I have had Winchester Models 62A, 1890, 1906, and 61 over the years and always marveled at the way they worked, how tight the action was, and how well they shot. Before I could afford the Winchesters I just mentioned, I bought a Rossi ( 62A style ) and shot it thousands of times, and that wold include a butt load of rabbits and squirrels. It never failed me. Take it out of the safe every once in a while, and still enjoy the feel. Thanks....infact I just went to the safe and enjoyed it again.

You might enjoy my 3rd model 1890 .22LR's quick release-lever mounted Ziess scope sight and factory deluxe stock. It's a real beauty and I had the joy and privilege of growing up shooting it quite a bit. The original bluing, sharp bore, scope and stock make it a very rare collectible. The action never jammed on this gun in all of my shooting. Sadly, I'm in a situation now when I may need to sell it!

This is the Rossi 22lr m62 rifle there is also a m62sac carbine. Rossi recently ruined the gun by changing the look and using plastic on the furniture. When the gun was out of production by the original manufacturer, Winchester, it was sold off to Rossi in Brazil. This is why these guns are such great shooters. Rossi aquired all the jigs, tooling, and production machinery plus the technical specs to produce this great gun. I would assume time has taken it's toll on this rifles production life which is why Rossi has changed the way it's made and looks. Sadly

LOL, I remember shooting a real Winchester 1890 at our little county Fair when I was a teenager. That was in the late 70's. Real guns with real bullets and a guy behind the counter who's job was to reload after each competition. The target was a nickel-sized dot that you tried to hit with your five 22 shorts, the distance to the target was about 6'. Aim small, miss small really meant something at the fair in those days. I can't imagine anyone allowing that event to take place these days. Ahh, those days were the golden age...
@UnitedStatesOfGuns5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul - That would have been great fun and practice for kids! By my time the galleries had air fed guns with tube fed ball bearings or some such thing. The projectiles flew all over and as I recall I was supposed to make a red star on the paper target disappear. I thought I did but the fellow running the gallery showed me a teeny red edge that remained on the ragged edge of the hole - so no stuffed pink rat for me. Oh well...

I bought a Rossi M59 22 mag at a LGS a few years back ( same gun as M62 except the chamber ) Really like the gun. Then I was in same store a few weeks ago and they had another but this one had a 60s Weaver K4 scope on it. Someone did a decent job on drill & tap on the barrel so I bought it. The rear sight is still there but they flipped it around in the dovetail so it faces the other way to make room for the scope rings. I wanted to post a photograph but I don't see where it will allow me to do that here. Anyway this gun IMO looks pretty sharp.

I have a Model 1906 that was made in 1911. It came out of a ranch here in New Mexico. Apparently it spent about 80 years in a barn. There are stick repairs made with old roofing nails and screws in the wrist. The finish is basically brown rust. The bore is indeed a proverbial sewer pipe. I rescued it at my local dealer who was planning to sent it to Numrich to be scrapped for parts. Guess what? It shoots fine. In fact it is one of my favorite .22s. I paid ten bucks for it in 2011. I wouldn't sell it for $500.

Awesome! I love those types of guns. Character and history - and I find the same : barrels and bores may LOOK bad - but they often shoot well. And anyway, at .22 distances slingshots are accurate. Most rats - of all types - are a few feet away. Great buy and I wouldn't sell either.

I should study Brazil more - over 200 million people and every kind of industry and success all over - but a lot of people have no idea. I asked an associate what he knows about Brazil and he said it is a small country near Venezuela or something; that grows nuts and has a big beach. And jungle. And there is a movie about Brazil. @@UnitedStatesOfGuns hahaha can't believe he tought so little of Brazil! We have a lot of interesting gun related stories about gun companies and copies of war guns which were made here, like the Madsen submachine gun which was produced under license over here after a brazilian officer hid some danish gun projects from the nazis in Brazil, when the war ended the danish gave a submachine project as a thankful gift and the brazilian government built a whole plant to produce this Madsen M1946 copy called M953 which they also converted to .45 acp. But the biggest push came from Beretta when they started making their 950s and 92s over here and later sold the whole plant to Taurus. Man, whatta swell video. Learned a thing or two to boot. Always been fascinated by the Martini/Peabody action, nice samples you have. The Rossi pump is a classic as well as a clone. I got my Rossi 62 SAC in 1982. Mine is the carbine version with 16.5" barrel. I love the crisp 2 lb trigger pull, slick action and that it has no disconnector! Mine will digest shorts and LR interchangeably, just gobbles up rounds and spits out empties. It holds fifteen shorts or eleven LR rounds. Mine is very accurate and though not really scope-able, can be fitted with a tang peep sight for improved accuracy. It has an eleven inch sight radius and the old half-cock safety. NOT really a beginners gun as once cocked is tricky lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber. Gotta say that I'd never sell my Rossi carbine. Paid $120 for it at Karnival Sports in Brooklyn and took it home on the subway to my Bay Ridge digs. Still my favorite rimfire in my brace of .22 long guns, fuhgeddaboudit.

In his defense, Winchester requested a lever action shotgun because levers were kind of their thing. Story is that Browning thought a pump was a better option, but they were writing the checks. Still great! I'd buy one if I could find one.

I have an m59 in 22 magnum and .22. The sights are terrible on both guns. Even after completely removing the height adjuster on the rear sights to get the rear sight as low as possible they both still shoot too high.

I have a Winchester 62 as well as a Rossi 62 and a couple Winchester 1890s. I have to agree that most of them shoot a tad high. I have adjusted by aiming a tad below the target, which is fine for most targets but makes it difficult for smaller targets like gif balls or spent shotgun shells. One of these days I’m going to put a modern red dot on one of them and see how precise I can get with it. The factory sights can definitely be upgraded

This gun was my Christmas gift in 1984. I don’t believe mag works. Short, long or long rifle.

Excellent - you have the original. Original is better.

I bought my Rossi .22 pump from Fetlas in Valparaiso Indiana in 1980, brand new. I was with a close friend when I got it. I kept it oiled, the blueing was beautuful on that gun. I had to move to Gary Indiana in a 84% black neighborhood. I did not own a gun safe at that time. Do I have to tell you where this story is going?

All you garbage collectors make sure to check out Rossi and Taurus who have 1,000s of defective, unrepaired, unreplaced firearms in their possession [ 6 are mine] and literally will not answer their phones 24/7.

I had no idea. How long has this gone on? It is easy to fix guns - even a thousand guns - compared to all the other trouble associated with unhappy customers with or without their guns - that don't work. Another mystery in the marketplace. My Rossi .22 works no matter what - but that is just one.

I just got the Henry 22 Mag Octogonal barrel version of this. Even before watching this video's content, I know Henry is higher quality than Rossi.

That's a very fine rifle; slick and accurate. Great buy!
