The long-awaited, most requested video is finally up, how to take the RS-22 down WITHOUT ruining your recoil spring. It may not be the correct way, but surely the safest I know for your spring. I get replacement springs for all of my rifles at MCARBO, check em out, they've been nothing but good to me, great prices, excellent customer service, and most importantly, the parts are TOP NOTCH. www.mcarbo.com...
I don't get any money for my vids, nor sponsorship of parts, ammo, firearms, or anything from anyone. I'm just showing my home movies of me shooting my cheapo guns on a shoestring budget. Nor am I a pro, just an amateur shooter trying to pass along knowledge to fellow recreational shooters. So if you're a critic, or a wise ass, you can go bang your fist and buy it flowers. Everyone else, enjoy the vid. lol

I was screwing around for 2 hours and cussing up a storm trying to get that doggone bolt back in without jacking up the recoil spring. After watching your video, I got everything back together in less than 5 minutes without damaging the spring. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hey thanks for the video. I ended up kinking my spring the first time around. This really helped me not mess it up a second time.

I just took down my RS22 for the first time and I watched several videos, including this one before I began. I really surprised myself with how smooth everything went, including taking that spring out and then replacing it, without damage to this spring. I did have a spare spring which I purchased from Mcarbo just in case I bent that spring but everything went so smooth that I was shocked at myself. I did Improvise slightly when taking out and then replacing this guide rod & spring but It worked for me without a problem. I think the key to doing this was for me to really take my time and not to panic or get frustrated! I now have confidence and I will take apart and clean my gun more often and I always have that Spare Spring, Just In Case! Ha Ha!

Very helpful advice! I didnt realize before hand how finicky it was, large guntubers make things seem to easy sometimes lol not that its overly complicated either. Some of us are just regular guys who dont spend all their time dismantling guns like those guys though so thank you sir!

Thanks for this video. I reference it every time I clean mine. I decided to go ahead an order another recoil spring. I figure it’s just a matter of time before I’ll need one anyways and for the price of the rifle, it’s worth it to keep it running.

A big help. I was having a lot of trouble re-assembling it as the buffer kept falling out. Putting the back end in first and lining it up before pulling the charging handle fixed this problem. Thanks a bunch. That one trick alone made the time well spent watching this video.

Thanks for the video. I recently bought a RS22M. Instructions say to clean it so I did and experienced the same ordeal with the spring. I kinked it a bit getting it back in. M-Carbo sales the RS22 spring but does not list the RS22M spring. They look the same but my guess is that they are a different stiffness. The Rossi site lists the charging handle for RS22M for $4 but it's currently out of stock. The rifle has never been fired, too cold to go to the range. I will use your technique next time. Thanks

There is a video on YT showing another takedown procedure though, Its been a year or so since I've looked it up. His way was slick to. Either way, thank you! Hopefully , I won't need M-Carbo again however, I do like their stickers & service! They are a awesome company! They also sell a lightened trigger spring also, there is another recoil buffer that has 2 knubs that supposedly helps. I have 1 but, Idk?🎉

@fritzshootz5068 4 жыл бұрын
No, sorry, I'd thought about this for a while, and the only thing I can say is that the pins shouldn't walk on you after the gun is assembled. The only fix I can come up with, is to make new pins out of brass, or if you can, use the warranty to replace the gun, in a worst case scenario.
@frankyank2843
@frankyank2843 4 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't stop the gun from working, put it together slowly as to make sure the pins don't slide, it should hold together when assembled. Just watch out for them falling upon the next takedown.

Is there a video demoing how to actually clean it?
@stevekatz4372
@stevekatz4372 2 жыл бұрын
Like any other Gun you clean, just use a solvent to remove any dirt and grime, then wipe it down to remove loose dirt! after it seems clean to you, then put a very thin layer of a quality gun oil on moving parts that run against each other to prevent friction and prevent abnormal ware. That's it in a nut shell!

Yes, occasionally. When I shoot a LOT of lead round nose ammo without cleaning it, it won't go all the way in to battery sometimes. After cleaning the gun good, it works perfectly again. Every once in a while ,it will fail to feed, about every 300 rounds or so. Sometimes no hangups for 1000 rds. For a 22lr rifle, it's VERY reliable. Again...22lr, not very reliable in general, but this rifle, for what it is, is just awesome! If it wasn't so windy today, I'd literally be out there this minute shooting it. :)

@frankyank2843
@frankyank2843 4 жыл бұрын
Look for the side of the pins that appear smaller, and maybe rough on the edges, that's the side that comes out first, and the side you hammer back in last. Think of that smaller textured end as.. " first side out, last side back in". Hope it helps..
@stevekatz4372
@stevekatz4372 2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to pop them out! Just punch them until you feel resistance and they will stay in during the entire process. This worked for me as I completed the entire process with the two pins almost out and there is enough clearance to pull out the trigger housing! It can work this way!

This is so complicated and chatty as to be useless. A rifle that is so tricky just to get a recoil spring inserted is not worth a $100 price for the annoyance alone. You can end up with the 2 pins out and unable to take the bolt assembly out of the gun and have the charging curved handle loose. And that leaves you to find a gunsmith to disassemble and reassemble the gun with the 2 pins inserted ! I am good at figuring out and fixing things and this is the most annoying gun I ever broke down (of maybe 10-15). Save your $100 and get a gun that can be reassembled without knowing 'tricks'.

It is really Not Complicated at all and the key is to go slow and follow the steps shown on this video and also on other videos and use them as a guide. Take your time and don't panic but do go slowly for the first time and you won't have any problems!
