Was watching a video about farmers having the same problem with their expensive farm machinery. They used to be able to plug in a laptop to see what sensor & part was broken and then fix it. But now they have to spend thousands to take it to the dealer to fix as the sensors are encrypted. They are trying to pass a right to repair law. Sounds like you need the same.
@dev0random6 жыл бұрын
This isn't just limited to farm equipment as machine manufacturers are now doing the same thing. PLC's that can't be accessed and now saying you void the warranty if you open the control panel. This nonsense needs to be put down.

It's no mystery. Since tractors are a relatively low sale quantity product, tractors/heavy equipment manufacturers/dealers make a bulk of their money on replacement parts, not the sale of the tractor. So if they're not going to make their money in the back end, they're going to make it on the front end. That'll essentially make it "socialized" by raising the sale price of the piece of equipment, making EVERYONE pay for other people's repairs. They're going to make their money somewhere. They're shooting themselves in the foot, because the cost of the equipment is going to increase significantly (since BOTH, the manufacturer AND the dealer, are going to raise their prices.), and someone who might not have had very many issues, it's still going to pay that extra money... And then they're going to pay for the replacement parts TOO, and a lot will have to pay for dealer service too. Even if an owner/operator takes really good care of their piece of equipment, gets a well assemble example of the piece of equipment, and may not have had to do lots of repairs or but lots of posts, are also going to pay that increased costs.
@tin20016 жыл бұрын
Andrew Delashaw You won't make money on parts if the farmer loses half his crop, and has to spend thousands of dollars transporting a tractor back to the dealer, just to replace a dud sensor. The farmer will be pissed off, and will never buy that brand again. Farmers aren't like Mac fanboys. They remember, and they hold a grudge.

Jesse McCree, 129 makes sense. Sensor range is obviously nice round number (255), half of that is 128 (to represent range from -126 to 128, using a round number for positive values may also be intentional), and 129 is the next number just above normal range. I'm not sure how is this represented though, because it's impossible to do in a straightforward fashion using two bytes.. There are many ways to achieve that, perhaps the lower bound is -125 or something. Or, if they actually waste a bit on sign, then -124.

Only one that broke but was fixed was the one I mentioned at beginning. The guy that fixed it said that it was the most burned out motherboard that he ever tried to fix. Guess you are right, he'll see. 360p isn't something Louis has done, but something that has gone wrong at the KZbin backend. It's been 22 minutes since the video was uploaded, so there's been enough time for the encode operation. But the video won't buffer at all for me. Seems to occasionally happen to some videos. My guess is it's because the KZbin CDN has had some kind of DB malfunction where it misplaces the uploaded formats' BLOBs/Docs(if noSQL). Usually takes a day or two to get corrected. Nothing Louis can do.

It can vary depending on what you use to watch. Quite often I find videos where VP9 is only available in certain resolution and H264 in another. I have found videos in 360p when played on my PC that will download in 4K when I use a downloader and check which resolution is available for which codecs. Its quite frustrating.

Alex Atkin I really think it's the Content Delivery Network. If you watch on apps/website, the geographically local CDN streams it to you. Downloaders/API connections see a different CDN I think. Since the video gets uploaded to the uploaders' CDN location, it then has to be mirrored to the other locations when demanded. I think that's the delay as well as the weird behaviour for downloaders. Have you ever encountered different download sizes for a video for same quality and codec? Like 360p on one downloader is different from another, and is also different from the KZbin app's own offline mode?

12:57 - If the fuse blew, why would you replace it and try to see if it blows again? Couldn't the issue that caused it to blow happen again, or in the future after you repair it? Couldn't replacing the fuse, without finding the cause of it blowing cause damaged to components that were protected the first time it blew? Just curious so I know your train of thought and to handle this kind of scenario.
@carbon12556 жыл бұрын
ye-eess. It could, but it is probably better to repair that and if it breaks again to diagnose it, because those conditions aren't necessarily going to happen again. The fuse will still protect the components the second time.

With all that mess on the motherboard, it was probably a spill that caused the problem in the first place. Clean the mess, replace the fuse, it works, done.
