Coming along great! Love the trailer. I know these trailers and 9k is a steal for that rig! That trailer is $11,500 new and from what I can see it has a minimum of $4,800 in add ons. The winch is $1,900 the steel decking with tiedowns is $2,000 and the wheels are $500 not sure how much the tool box is but. There are a few more upgrades also. Whoever ordered this did it right. It's been upgraded for medium duty use. I wouldn't use it daily for a business. But I would trust it to go cross country with no issues. The upgraded axles it has with the third 10k lb axle is great. You can safely haul 30k over the axles. Once you started talking about all the things you are going to add under the decking I was worried. Just remember to put the heave things from the middle axle forward. I'm stoked for you! Keep doing it for Dale!

Until Cleetus mentioned they were planning to put decking in between the lower frame rails to carry tires gear etc I was going to suggest welding in some triangulated bracing between the lower frame cross members to stiffen it up and keep any frame flex to a minimum, but I'm sure that will be part of the upgrade. Can't beat the price on that trailer though, I would have bought that for $9k in a hot second.

Cleetus, leave your torch close to the weld after you quit applying heat. The welder should provide a 'post flow' that will continue to protect the weld from contamination as it cools. It makes a big difference by keeping the tungsten and the weld clean throughout the process.

Chad Guenet - interesting. Could’ve sworn I saw a large chunk fly. I didn’t do deep analysis on a phone screen. It’s irrelevant to the point though, really. They’re still sitting on top of controlled explosions and parts spinning at high speed. There’s a reason they put ballistic blankets on superchargers, shield bell-housings and drive shaft tunnels etc... Just hope they stay safe, that’s all.

You'll want fenders for that trailer. It won't make a difference to keep cars clean because it's an open trailer but keeps road debris from hitting what's on the trailer. I've absolutely popped that back window out of a 6 foot box hauling a camper. Made a really careful tight turn left turn but the camper hit a high spot on the right wheels and the left side came down to kiss the rear window lol

There should be a post flow option and when you finish your weld you should hover the torch right above the weld to let the weld cool with argon shielding it. Instead of finishing and immediately pulling the torch away. It will help the weld look nicer and be a little stronger.

You need a CDL for that trailer if your GVWR rating on your truck + GVWR rating on your trailer is total of 26,000 pounds or more. Even if the trailer is empty! If your truck has a high rating there are places that can lower your GVWR on your trailer (new sticker) to make you legal

Make sure you check the tire and axle weights. I work at towing company and run across trailers like that. That are over weight on axles and tires all the time and DOT shuts them down. Make sure it scales correctly might have to up axle and tire weight capacity.

If you need more ground clearance I used to have one of these with 15s on it and running a 195/50R15 tyre. Takes a little bit of clearancing on the front but the rears fitted no problem.

Definitely will even not loaded. Most times they go by sticker weight combined. Been busted empty before

I didn't think personal conveyance weight didn't matter as long as the vehicle wasn't over GCVWR? How else can anyone pull a toyhauler with an RV? They easily go over 26000. I frequently go over weight pulling my equipment and or toys.

Depends what your hauling, big campers get a pass a lot, but hauling trailers like that attract attention of d.o.t. and comunity commercial police. Just to get a cdl you have to test with a trailer that puts you over 26000 combined.

Garrett said they are hiring a firm (JH) to haul it to Houston. I would guess that whenever this trailer needs to go somewhere, they will hire the right folks to do it.
