Listening to your masterful playing is not only a lesson in guitar, but quite a pleasant and enjoyable musical experience. I have the same draw when watching and listening to Tommy Emmanuel. Your audience could grow just from songs skillfully played by you. Misty was my key to learning guitar.

In my opinion this was your best and most clearly contextualized specifically jazz guitar lesson yet. Where many of your videos that I had checked out so far were about improving one's technique, rhythm, and so on_ they were not necessarily just about a specific srtlye or genre of music. Great work!!

Nice job. As a long time player trying to learn solo, I agree (I think) that chord melody is not really "enough" because it sounds like constant block chords. Other approaches I've been working on are self-comping (as you did in the first section), playing strictly bass and melody but trying to make them independent (great for a first chorus), and counterpoint-y - playing the chords as a call-response type figure. I'd love to hear what you think about those approaches, and I'm sure you may have others too! Thanks.

Wonderful lesson. In Blues music there is a way of playing Major and Minor Pentatonic scales on top of each other (both scales with the same root note). Mixing the notes in Major and Minor Pentatonic scales together brings interesting and playful melodies. I wonder if this is used also in Jazz music??

Autumn Leaves, please. With your teaching in this manner, I feel that the first "Set" of standards and or popular tunes to arrange and perform for solo guitar would be optimal. The Girl from Ipanema, etc. Also, please show us the "must" and "most" useful exercises to get our triads, shell voicings and 7th chords with all of the inversions under our fingers. Thank you for your patience and encouragement!

That’s a beautiful d’angelico Rotem! I’d like to ask if you have any opinion on labeling of types voicings like drop 2 and drop 3. There’s a video of Gilad Hekselman talking about his “double drop 2 drop 3” voicings and it got me thinking about methods of finding more chords. Do you think of chords like this ever?

@eladguitar

@@Johnhasa1 Hey man, you didn't ask me, but maybe this can shed some light - You need to have the combination of an ear good enough to hear what the chords and notes are, and enough control over the neck to be able to immediately play them. Combine that with fluency in the stylistic aspect of this kind of playing and you could do this. Takes some experience and exploring but definitely doable.
