ADZC (190), Rivalry between Warlords (194), Battle of Guandu (199), and Battle for Han Zhong (219) are my favorite scenarios. All Fiction scenarios except 264 are fun to play as well.

@kagemusha7029 Yeah Guan Du is one of my favorites as well, I was hyped about the return of 264 but I don't like how officer have no lifespan for fictional takes the fun out of establishing shu within a few years

The only bad thing about the turbans in this game, is no playable He Man. He’s my favourite one, and yes it’s cause of the name.

@@archivegaming3014 I mean, half the characters show up and immediately die, some of them don’t even get to say anything. That makes he-man special. I wanted proper him, but I have made him in the edit menu. Sadly, not a wizard.

As a 13 player I didn't expect 184 to be on here, I always thought it was the worst scenario because of the number of free cities and how detached it feels from the rest of the game, but you made me want to give it a second chance. Still I would personally replace it with ZGL's first northern campaign or a late warlords scenario (197-199). What do you recommend for someone who never played original 8? I was thinking of a late Yuan Shu or late Gongsun Zan for challenging runs but I need to learn the game first, haven't had a chance to try it yet due to work.

I played 184 as my first run, it doesn't really deserve a spot on this list. Maybe if it was a top 7 scenarios. You don't really have freedom in the south, because Sun Jian, He Jin, and the Turbans(if you don't activate the event that wipes them out) will flood through the free cities faster than any other modern ROTK, taking multiple cities each season. When I was playing as a vagrant army, He Jin had almost the entire map within two years, with Sun Jian having a large kingdom on the coast. If you like the idea of running against the clock and trying to form a kingdom before they reach you, then sure that's an option but you don't have the freedom you'd have in like, ROTK 11 or 13. 8 Remake also has an issue from what I've seen so far that AI vagrant armies don't seem to move around at all, nor do free officers form vagrant armies or rise up in cities, which is a downgrade from 10/13 and makes the ocean of free cities kinda meaningless when in 13 you'd have like Yan Baihu rising up in the southeast or one of Liu Biao's guys like Cai Mao starting something in Jing.

@ahmadzaki93 Yuan Shu after his coalition loss is great always a favorite of mine. On a late gonsun zan try I'd drop Zhao Yun he has always made it too easy to defeat Yuan Shao. For first try you could go Sun Ce 194 or Cao Cao 190 but the game isn't challenging right now so If your used to challenge just skip to whatever grabs you.

@Seraphil1 We've had completely different experiences then maybe the ai is a bit schizophrenic then. I'm sure they'll smooth it out in time it shouldn't be so swingy

The running against the clock aspect actually makes it more interesting for me, so I'll definitely try it later. Vagabond armies seem to be disappointing, if they are as you say then they're worse than in DW8E.

@archivegaming3014 I think I'll do a Sun Ce run first to learn the basics, but late Yuan Shu will be my first "real" run. For Gongsun Zan, I'm not sure but I think he loses Zhao Yun in the later dates, you might need to extend his or his son's lifespans though.

@albedogk8521 It is strong but they should add a damage slider for fire like in rotk14 at worst. Always empower players, and let each decide what they want to use you know what I mean. It's your product you paid for it you decide

@albedogk8521 It is yeah, it has none of the aggression of OG. The games insanely easy across all fronts but that patch mentions a new difficulty so that'll hopefully return aggression and give some buffs. I'll take anything to increase challenge at this stage 😁
