Growing Up Without Borders

Күн бұрын

Join us on another adventure in Rotorua, New Zealand together with our friends Jessie and Cameron.
Just minutes away from Rotorua’s city center, we found the famous Skyline attraction.
At arrival, we checked the overview map to get to know the place a little better and in no time we were boarding the gondola. You can check their website for more information at www.skyline.co.nz/en/rotorua/
As we were climbing up the hill, we were able to see the biking tracks below as well as the magnificent views of Rotorua.
At the top we found a few shops, a café, an ice cream parlour, and a wine bar and it all kind of reminded us of home back in Switzerland.
We actually had a hard time deciding which activity to do first, but we settled on taking the luge. We started with intermediate but felt bold and tackled the advanced tracks next.
Oh boy, were we all in for a surprise! So much thrill in such a short ride! Adrenaline is definitely addictive.
But there was so much more to Skyline than the peaceful uphill gondola ride and the adrenaline-pumping downhill luge tracks.
What followed was the 50m-tall Sky Swing. This scarier-than-you-would-think experience was one we will never forget.
Next we took a snack break and restored our energy for the upcoming activity - Ziplining!
There were also walking tracks, mountain biking trails, cultural events, adventure activities and great dining alternatives, and all that combined with breathtaking views.
Once we were done with the Skyline, we headed towards our accommodation for the night at Aura Accommodations. Aura suites were right down town and featured 2 bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. More info at aurarotorua.co.nz/
For dinner, we decided to do something special and visit the Ambrosia restaurant at the famous Eat Streat.
The food was absolutely delicious and we ended the three-course-meal with their signature Ambrosia dessert.
You can book a table online with them via their website at ambrosiarotorua.co.nz/
Back at Aura, we decided to take a dip in the geothermal pool despite the chilly early spring night.
The next morning, we decided to do a walking tour of Rotorua. The girls did some book shopping and for lunch we had some famous NZ meat pies. 😋
Next we stopped at the Kuirau Park where we ran into some unexpected steaming, hissing and bubbling geothermal activity.
Have you ever heard of another city having bubbling mud right in the middle of its central area? We’d like to hear all about it so drop us a comment!
In the afternoon, we let Chloe and Jessie enjoy some poolside fun and activities, while we took a bike ride around the town..
By the time we were back we all got really hungry, so what’s a better way to round up a perfect day than some delicious BBQ?
Stay tuned for our upcoming videos and be sure to subscribe to follow our adventures around the world!

You visited some of my favorite places once again. Loved the memories you bring to me. I see so much has changed, big improvements everywhere in the last five years. Thank you once again for taking me back to the city I have spent most of my life. Kiwi from Virginia.

I thought the cord that Jessie was about to pull was the panic switch. When she pulled it, I almost choked on my dinner. That scene is hands-down my favorite of all the videos of yours so far. Angelique was lost for words and hysterical but having the time of her life! I’m going to have to watch it again!!!🤓

Great destination for a family holiday I would take my Australian wife and son there on my regular annual leave when I visited my family in Auckland and Wellington . Covid has put a halt on our travels at this point. We would always stop somewhere between the two cities and stay in hotels for a couple of days before seeing family I miss the road trips..🙂

Kuirau in Kuirau Park, is pronounced as Kwe-la Park. La as in r's. You have to roll the r to create that sound like a French rolls there r's. I use to play here as a young child. The old army tank has been removed and the hotpool where you can play in like a thermal pool has been removed because an underwater eruption and a flood caused it to be un-uesable a few decades later. But it still has its charme to this day.
