"Pro-press queens"...cracks me up every time. I ran into the very same problem with my house, which is plumbed entirely with copper DWV. I soldered on an 1 1/2" male adapter and then threaded on a brass trap adapter.

I did a similar job when I was an apprentice; I set the smoke alarm off, and every single fire truck in my area came out. What a mess! Great video!

As a volunteer, we were sanding the wood floors at the church's rectory and that set off the smoke alarm for the local vol fire department. We didn't get any bad gas from it.

Thats the way the rest of the country does it. Mass is different for some reason. I mean if the mechanical connection is made properly it shouldnt ever be a problem. Its a problem when its an emergency call and its clogged. To get a straight shit at the clog you have to cut off the soldered elbow.
