When I saw the title I thought it's going to be about an Irish girl with that name (not a simple love song of course). Yesterday I heard the song without the lyric video and realized that it's about forced christianization of the Celtic tribes. Another viewer wrote me that Saoirse is also a Greek anagram ("ise iroas") for something like "you're a hero".

@@herbertwest9626 Saoirse means freedom in Irish and it is a female given name among the Irish. Regarding the idea of forced Christianization in Ireland, this is most likely a myth. We do not have any evidence of how exactly Ireland was converted over time to Christianity, but in the absence of an external factor that might've forced them to convert, most likely they converted willingly, and over time to Christianity. Tradition has it that Saint Patrick, which is the patron saint of Ireland, converted the ruling dynasty of Ireland that provided the High Kingship during the 5th century to Christianity and subsequently, these kings would then spread it among their subjects. Because Ireland for much of its existence was a collection of petty kingdoms, with the High King only having nominal authority outside of its dynasty's territory, the process of conversion to Christianity was long, with pagan pockets remaining there even after the Viking Age.

@@Kalimdor199Menegroth Thanks a lot for the information. I know that Saoirse is a female Irish name and that it means freedom. It's the name of my niece 😊. About the christianization: I don't think it's a myth. It's possible that some Celts converted voluntarily. Probably they didn't have another option. But it's also a historical fact that the different Celtic tribes were forced to accept Christianity as their new religion. I am not so sure about the king, but the druids were holding fast on to their beliefs and traditions and the only way to compel them was to use force. Which means do or die. The people were very loyal to their spiritual leaders, their authority was never questioned. Now there's a lot of theories, of course, how the conversion really happened, not just in Ireland, but for example in Scandinavia, where the Vikings were forced to converse and a lot of them resisted and were killed. We have history books that tell about those times. I think what happened is that some people accepted the new faith willingly (or half willingly), while others were ready to fight for their ancient beliefs and eventually died for them. And I think this is what this song is about.
