Quick review of Rough Country Vertex shocks on my 2018 F-150.

Nice vid, I have the "full" 3.5" RC Vertex set up on my 16 Tacoma overland rig for 2 years now (full set up = front and rear vertex shocks, leaf packs and UCA's and I absolutely love it! My buddies have Icon and are impressed how well the RC Vertex set up is, it actually articulates on the trails better than theirs. Also anytime I call RC they are always nice and send me parts at zero cost i.e. I wanted new ball joints for the UCA's, they sent them, then I needed replacement caps for the tops of UCA's, they sent them, then I needed new buffer pads for leaf packs, they sent them, ALL AT ZERO COST!!!

Great video with the information I was looking for. I’m actually in SD too, Hot Springs so it’s good to hear this setup does well in this area. I just bought a 2016 F-150 with a 6” Rough Country lift. I already ordered the rear RC Vertex shocks because the ones that are on it are what I’m assuming are the original ones that came with the lift and are shot. The shocks should be in next week. I now looking at options to replace the factory strut and RC strut spacer in the front for a better ride. I’m liking what I’m seeing on these Vertex ones. My other option is the Fox 2.5 setup for not much more money but they aren’t adjustable. I had the Fox 2.0 coil overs and shocks on my 2015 F-150 and was happy with that setup running 33” tires. But now I live down a 6 mile dirt/gravel road that gets pretty washboarded so I’m doing 12 miles of “off-road” driving each day. I’ve heard the Fox 2.5 would need rebuilt somewhere around 25-50k miles. When I talked to RC they said the Vertex are rated for 75k+ miles or 3yrs. How long have you had yours on for now? Any problems with them?

Ive heard that the Vertex are better than the foxes. But that's was from a different youtube video hahahah! And I love Hot Springs! Super nice little town! And that is correct. Unfortunately the Vertex's are non rebuildable. But still worth the cost In my opinion. And I have had the shocks for 6 months now 😁 they definitely ride a lot smoother after the first 1k miles or so. Really breaks them in nicely.

Just got my 3.5” vertex front and rear setup for my 23 Silverado put on last week. Rides way nicer and looks better now. So far I also have them on level 3. Level one is nice like a cloud but a little too soft and too much body roll for daily driving.

Thank you for counting the threads! did you adjust them on the truck? How hard was it and any recommendations how to do it easy?!

Hey! Thank you! And yes, I adjusted them once they were installed. It was very difficult to adjust them, but its a bit easier if you lift the front end off the ground so you aren't working against the weight of the vehicle, too. I definitely reccomend using the coil over wrench from RC as well. That definitely makes it easier too 😁

How’s your gas mileage? I just ordered the Vertex coilovers and rear shocks. I’d assume it went down a decent amount with the tire size?

Hi there, thanks for the reply! With the 3 inch lift, 34's and the removed wind dam, it dropped to about 18 in the winter and 19 in the summer. I have the towing package so I have the 3.73 rear end, so idk if that's why my mileage is so low. But it went from about 23/24 complete factory stock, to my current 18/19. Given the ride quality with the shocks and higher ground clearance, Id still do this all over in a heartbeat given the reduced mileage.
