Rough Ryder Carnivore Jack Personal Steak Knife RR2020

Just received this one in the mail today and couldn’t be happier with it. Fit and finish was darn near perfect. I share your enthusiasm for the the uniqueness of the covers. Not a huge fan of the muskrat pattern, but I think the fact that one blade is serrated extends it’s utility as an EDC knife as well. Very, very nice for the price you pay.

As a meateater this knife speaks to me, more then a muskrat, because of the different edges. Very fine knife.

I had to work on the serrations and I find the blade to short to actually use as a camping meat knife. I like the opinel or grand daddy barlow for that.

Great vid and a very nice bit of bone. Can't help wondering how you'd go about sharpening the serrated blade - also, in my book if you need a serrated blade to eat steak, then either your knife's too blunt or your steak's too tough!

Hi David welcome to the channel. Having eaten at many a steakhouse the serrated is the house blade of choice. I agree with a good straight edge you can do fine work of it, but for the novice meat-eater it makes things a touch easier. A tip for sharpening serrated blades is to use a small sharpening rod.

Those are great. I think only that one, the dog bone Jack & maybe one other come with the little knife slip. Those slips are very nice. I carry my Case Canoe in one. I normally don't collect muskrat patterns because of the two identical blades. I have cut steak, and other meats with that knife & I would say it's a perfect folding steak knife.

It's a nice knife in itself. I'm sure there is some use outside of BBQs for this configuration of knife but just doesn't come up too often these days so BBQ Ninja it is!!!!

Very nice review. I like the looks of this. With the serrated blade canted downward like it is, I don't see how the serrations could be useful cutting meat. You would mostly only be able to utilize the front third of the blade.

I like your bone. It looks almost like horn. I wished this knife were about wee bit larger, 4.5 inches long. Pretty sure Kevin Pipes came up with this one.

If RR wants to put the slant R bolster all they have to do is get rid of the shield, but both on one knife is too much, especially since they put the giant "RR" on the tang stamp. Too much gaudy bling.

Rough Ryder has really done a great job at establishing themselves as a quality, budget, traditional knife company 😎👍. I'd rather buy from Rough Ryder than case knives. Case knives are grossly overpriced, and also grossly overrated. Especially when you consider the performance you get out of them. Rough Ryder knives perform on the same level as case knives, but for a much better price 😎.

What I don't get is a plain edge sharp knife cuts through meat like any serrated edge. BUTCHER'S knives are plain edge. Chef's knives are plain edge.🤣 If you like serrated, be my guest.

For eating a serrated blade makes sense due to a quicker cut. Chef's knives often require a clean cut and the straight edge is best for that.

@@ThriftyKaniffy I don't know why I didn't mention this, but it's the plate. The serrations keep the majority of the edge from dulling on the plate. Dang. Mind fart. 🤣
