I agree more of a large jack knife instead of cattle knife. Nicely constructed. They did a good job on that one. Great knife if you are looking for a large jack knife.

Hard to be wrong calling it a jack knife. Thanks, Dean.

Hi TK: It’s a very nice knife. Really like cigar frames. The absence of a shield is good so the Cinnamon bone is uninterrupted. And thankfully there’s no BIG R. I have the Marbles versión but mine’s in the bone stag covers. Love that one. The RR would make a nice companion piece.

The only two knives a man really needs is a carbon stockman or small trapper in his pocket and a sharpfinger or 110 on his belt.

Excellent review TK. I have the early Marbles BoneStag with the cool shield. This knife hits on so many cylinders. They did a great job with this one and you did a great job showing it. Now I need to go back and look for the spotting. Early Sheffield Cattle knives could have anywhere from 1 to 4 blades. This two blade version was a very common pattern in the late 19th century. Early on I shared your opinion, often commenting that a Cattle knife was a Stockman with a Punch instead of a spay blade, especially when it shows up on a cigar or equal end frame. But more that one source says the stockman evolved from the early Cattle knives which were large frame knives with large spear or clip blade. Now with that said, I'd love to see this frame used with a Spear master blade and a sheepfoot/punch combo or sheepfoot/spay/punch combo.

Like it, the handle, bolsters and scales remind me of a couple of WW1 British Army Clasp knives I've seen though there was a gazillion makers (maybe including American makers) so some could look very different. Do like RR carbon blades but I'm sticking to buying from a list of knives I've never quite got around to, next is a Case or a Leatherman multitool.

Hello young man !!! The Cigar pattern handle , can be known by several names , & that all depends on the blade combination , but for now , lets just deal with the knife you have in hand & some assumptions that you may have made about it !!! This one I would call a premium cattle jack , because of the length of the handle , puts it into the premium sized knife category , some might even want to refer to it as a jumbo cattle jack !!! The cattleman's knife has a blade combination like the stockman's knife & if you say , eliminate the spay blade for the punch / awl blade or you add a 4th blade punch / awl , then it would fall into the category of cattle punch , just like with the stockman's pattern !!! The handle shape by itself , is referred to as a cattle / utility pattern , & this is because of the extreme popularity of the 3 & 4 bladed scout knife , that is known as the scout utility pattern , because of it's blade combination in it's many variants !!! Put your hands on a copy of LGK4 , you wont be sad that you did !!!

Though the handles are not antler materal its real bone, likely why the look as good as they do. Much nicer than near any plastic synthetic stag pattern scales.
