I would also be writing and highlighting to the Government the bureaucracy and nightmare yachts face trying to go into Tobago.... International flights go into Tobago on a daily basis .... don't understand why can't yachts be treated similarly....

The fishermen pull up your anchor, dismissed Amy, and the port authority quagmire 👎😡. Unfortunately, their country and you are a visitor. You handled it well. I hope they understand its for reasons like these, I would skip Tobago 🇹🇹 completely. Thanks for sharing.

I am a Trinbagonian and must firstly apologize for the treatment you received in Tobago (fishermen and Customs red tape) which, luckily did not stop you from enjoying the small paradise that is Tobago because of your great attitude. Overall we are a fun loving and friendly people who are always ready for a lime (party). Loved your video, best wishes and calm seas on your future journey ❤

Hey guys, you did a really great job on this one. We feel that you do a good job of showing what cruising is really like. It is nice to see a young couple sailing a fairly simple but safe boat on such a long voyage. It seems that a lot of people these days are spending more of their potential cruising time upgrading to newer and more expensive boats in the search for what they hope is perfection. In the end we think it is the memories of the places and people that we meet along the way that matter the most. Keep having fun and stay safe you two! J&J SV Sueno

There is nothing like a good beat in the right wind and seastate ... close hauled brings out a lovely side of the character of a well-designed boat. Seems those fishermen were definitely resentful about something or someone other than you specifically and you just looked like someone to take it out on. Remember everyone else loves you!.

Yachties are often unaware of how fish move or the process of catching them, in BC I often hear of yachties saying fisherman are erratic when in fact they are just following a depth edge.

Yes, we had the same conditions sailing from Trinidad to Tobago. Wow, so sorry to hear about the hassle of all of the clearing. I use to sail direct from Grenada to Tobago. And only one check in and out total! We could go anywhere. We carried our own compressor to fill our tanks so did a lot of amazing diving. We also sometimes went on the local boats to learn the best spots. Spyside was great drift diving. Did you see the biggest brain coral in the world? Sorry about the incident with the fisherman. I hope that you reported it. They shouldn’t do that. Otherwise fantastic! Almost to the crossing point!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the balanced and fair commentary, we as a people simply MUST decide that we want tourism...the paper work is the real issue for me - sorry for the aggressive fisherfolk (pretty sure they exist in many places but ashamed that they behaved that way) siiigh we have the natural wonders, but an unnatural aversion to sharing them with the world.

I've never been a patrion guys but I've been here with you from pretty much the beginning as a subscriber, & I love you both. And your content has got better every Ep. But it's super scary to think you are closing in on England never to be seen again. I've been watching channels other than yours & sadly they come & go. However, @ 70 yrs now I suspect you, Matt & Amy, would embark on a family. So I'm taking this opportunity to say thank you for everything. I'm sure towards the end you will be flooded with well wishes. So I need to do this. Return to NZ, I would love to host you. Much Love to you both.

Great episode again :) When you had that huge Dorado on your line I was expecting you to say the immortal phrase: "We're gunna need a bigger...fridge!" :D The way those fishermen interfered with Florence was outrageous and you handled it really well. What struck me most however was the fact that in all your travels over the last 6+ years you've hardly ever encountered bad behaviour like that. I'm sure a large part of that is your choice of where to go but more importantly, your respect for the people and places you've visited. The lesson I'm taking away is that if you're friendly and you go in search of friendliness you'll almost always find it.

Just in case I have not mentioned it, and, before I forget it, I need to comment on exactly how very lucky the Captain of Florence must be of his 1st mate, Amy. Amy, you are simply a most beautiful, courageous, and incredibly proficient sailor. You command your time on deck duty and complete it with purpose and grace. You have made a very important contribution to the furtherance of women on the high seas. God bless guide and keep you in his care forever.

Florence points well. She made beating to windward in that squall look easy. I had to laugh at how appropriately named Englishman's Bay is after those dreadfully rude fishermen spoiled your morning. Regarding the bureaucracy, one would think that a country whose economy relies largely on tourism would make it easy to regulate cruising yachts. It sounds like a nightmare. Wow, as soon as the pan drums started, it sounded like party central! Beautiful people having safe, wholesome fun 💖

That type of sailing is what makes you feel alive. Being in Scotland that is a nice days sail. At least your warm not cold to the bone. Life throws everything at you and you deal with it brilliantly. That fisherman was out of order. Being a grump old man, I would when younger knocked him out. But being older and no wiser probably try to do the same. HAHAHA

Sorry that you guys had to endure such a rude response from the fishermen, I would suppose that isn’t the way most fishermen I know would behave. Always a few bad apples. The rest of the video was great, the images are so clear and the music is such a wonderful background to the scenes. Congratulations on crossing your outbound cruising path, quite an accomplishment! Thanks for another great video! This brought back good memories of Tobago 22 years ago. We also had an incident then, with fishermen in Store Bay, but otherwise loved the island and the people. Englishman’s Bay was a favorite spot as was Charlotteville. We see they have put mooring balls there now which will change things but will be good for Man o’ War Bay. It’s a pity the clearing in procedures have become so difficult!

As ever the ONLY problem is we have to wait two weeks between uploads. Still the best sailing channel. Love the fact you actually tack and don’t use the engine. So many You Tube channels don’t seem to understand tacking. I have tacked cabin cruisers up narrow rivers… Can’t believe how you were treated. Not cool! Could hear in your voices how upset and freaked out by it you were. Love the fact Matt wants ice cream not beer or something… man after my own heart. Given the choices in the region the paperwork combined with the dodgy fishermen make it sound almost like it’s not worth the effort. I know while it’s hurricane safe it is lightening heavy which is why so many full time cruisers keep to Grenada to ride out the hurricane season… it being hurricane and lightning safe… easy on paperwork and positivity welcoming of cruisers laying on buses to the shops for them. Although the party looked mad. Can’t wait for the next episode. Not being weird but be prepared… England has changed a lot since you left. Food prices etc are crazy. Don’t stay long… it’s not worth it. Can’t wait to get my ducks in a row and get my boat and leave!!!
