Yip, good fun sailing off the southern tip of Africa, they say if you can sail here you can sail anywhere, say hi to Craig, Jesse, Richard, and all my friends at HBYC, awesome club and marina, I spent an amazing 2 + months there after buying my steel Stadt 34' last year. With regards Aghulas and Cape point, I've had both the best and worst of it, blew a head gasket and Genoa off rocky bank at 2 am in 35 knots and had to get a tow into Simon's town, then 2 weeks later rounded Aghulas at 1 am in 35 Kn true with a double reeded main, 4 m breaking seas doing 17.7 Kn SOG en route back to PE, it's not for the faint of heart, for sure, I've left royal Cape in .3 Kn and got into Hout bay in 48 true, that's 13 odd nm, done that trip around Aghulas a few times and it's never been easy, this is why boats like Cape 28's Miuras and L34 and L36's are so highly regarded, along with steel boats like the Dix Hout bay 33 and my boat, chined steel VDS 34'. It's most certainly not an easy coast to sail, you had it easy, wait till winter!!!
