It's been fun tagging along your vacation.. Sorry you were mistreated at the airport. Suggestion: When you get home file a report via the adjoining airlines. Inform them of being mishandled ie mistreated and felt discriminated against. Suggest that some form of re training be initiated.

So sorry for what happened to you Cocomama. I aways avoid carrying in my hand luggage any liquids, lotions, toothpaste, to avoid the secirity, over scrutinizing me and over body search. Good to see you cocoma, Heathrow airport is like that coco mama becoz of things that has happened, and also Heathrow is the biggest airport, they do thoroughly security checks, and they are very strict, there is always armed security, hope your journey was good coco mama.the other thing is becoz some ppl hve tried to sneak drugs in their hair, wigs, some even swallow.

Thank you for sharing your experience, sadly it happens so often to many people it’s just a shame. My sister experiences this type of treatment whenever she travels and she has a US passport. She was recently body searched at JFK Airport NY on her way to Trinidad. I told her when she used to fly coach she had no problem now that she only flies business class she’s always getting body searched😃😃😃😃 it’s not easy. All in all, you arrived home safely after having a very memorable trip to London.💜

Next time consider using Airpeace Airline which is owned by a Nigerian from Anambra state, only that it lands and departs from London Gatwick airport instead of the more central London Heathrow airport. Airpeace flight ticket can fly you from London Gatwick to any airport in South East via Lagos where you would check in again for the domestic flight. Next time buy your flight ticket to London from Enugu airport. I heard Airpeace serves jollof and swallow even pepper soup during the London to Lagos flight.

So sorry Coco Mama for poor treatment . At times workers the information desk at the Airport can be insensitive😢. In 2007 when I came to Study I connected from SA through Heathrow International Airport to LAX Just confirming whether a was at the right gate so that I don’t miss my flight✈️. I was given an attitude. I don’t feel like coming to London Sorry. I know not everyone is a mumu.

@coco mama, trust me due to my messy Afro hair l am always searched thoroughly to the extent a female officer feels my hair up to my scalp. It’s worse at Amsterdam going through the check to take KQ and remember l have a British passport but it makes no difference. I have come to accept it as a travelling inconvenience. And it’s worse when travelling from Kenya via Amsterdam layover. Yes and the search includes in between my legs. Very intrusive but l am used to it now and suspect maybe it’s my colour.

Cocomama...For the most part, travelling these days from anywhere can be a nightmare. Sometimes it's just the way you look that brings you problems. Being of a certain colour, your hair style and wearing a hat brings problems. Even your age causes suspicions to some airport staff. They think older people could be carrying illegal stuff for others or carrying excess money to give to others. They have even told me that their scanning equipment picked up explosive elements in my bag and delayed me for nearly an hour. Really, all they wanted to do was to ask me questions about the amount of money which their scanner showed up. They mentioned something about money laundering but I was well within the legal limit to travel with.Sometimes they decide to suspect you just because of where you are travelling to or coming from. Sometimes they are just bored and decide to mess with you just to embarrass you for a laugh among themselves. The trick is not to let them see that you are annoyed

Those airports are known for people abusing by sneaking in illegal drug dealers or cigarettes and people trying to come in illegally. Lovely I was detained with Air France and they searched me like a thief. I understand where you’re coming from in terms humiliation. Since I was traveling with Study Abroad Students. Good day guys. I was once in Copenhagen. Over here when you see a black person you ask where are you from? As time goes on we were a group of maybe six/ seven different African individuals just chatting as we were waiting for our flight. Botswana went first waited for the rest of us. I was second from Namibia waited so did the others. We waited for Nigeria he never came. We were even searching for him on the flight. Nothing. We were all black and it all went smoothly apart from the Nigerian. So lets not play the race card here. Those few rotten apples are spoiling it for good people like you. Peace out. They just have these spotters or profilers walking around the airports and if they detect nervousness or suspicious behavior or what they deem to be, anyway, they will do those things to you. It's not nice especially when you're clean.
