Thank you very much for the wonderful video. I might have spotted a mistake at minute 32: before you performed the fire action with Cpl Thomas, you did a spotting action. But I believe that should only happen at the end of an Impulse.

I find that this game generates a terrific narrative. Reminds me a lot of the TV show that it was named after.

I liked using the cubes to show activation as well. A suggestion for you, Rough. Place the cubes on Impulse 1, remove on activation for I2, replace for I3 and then final removal for I4. This saves having to remove them all every impulse and re-apply, especially when you start to get more characters onto a bigger map area. BTW... Merry Christmas to you and yours.
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Жыл бұрын
Merry Christmas to you my friend. When I play offline I do that with the cubes but I use the magic of video editing when videoing.

Thanks for the video. Great playthrough, you have a nice firing line going there with the Americans. Germans are taking on the chin so far. But that last American wound might make a little difference. Look forward to the next turn.

Been playing along with your video to learn the rules, it has been SUPER helpful. Long time wargame, first time with hex and counter. A video on how you organize all the tokens would be super helpful. I have them in the provided bags but hunting down tokens really slows the game down. Also I see you’ve cut and mounted the map so it lays flat. Maybe to foam core? A video on that process would be helpful as well.
@RoughSwordsmanWargamerАй бұрын
Hi Chris and thanks for the comment. I have my counters in a couple of counter trays and the rest in bags. The counter trays have to be stored separately in another box. The map hasn't been cut it was placed under a plexi sheet to keep it flat.
@ChrisGallagher-c5qАй бұрын
@ thanks, super helpful! One other item struck me as I’m sitting down playing. When considering line of sight, do I contemplate the entire hex the terrain is printed in or do I consider only the terrain as printed? For example the hedges terrain takes up a limited amount of the hex in which it lies and sometimes I can dry line of sight past the corner of a hedge as illustrated but not past the hex in which the printed hedge terrain lies.

I think there may be a minor issue with spotting-you use 'Open' on the Spotting Chart when spotting the German troops in the fields.(Around the 14:30 mark for about 4 mins) I think you should be using 'Field'. It's a small difference in modifier, but field has it's own row. The terrain 11.2 in rulebook. Fields are a bit of an exception to normal Open. Apologies if you've picked this up later-or indeed, if my reading of the rule is incorrect!

Hi Ian, wow completely missed that! You are indeed correct and thanks for pointing that out 👍

@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer It doesn't ship until mid-March, but I think it will be a good compliment to my ASLSK and LHY rotation. Combat! looks unique compared to those two, especially with the innate solo element, but it sounds like it satisfies the tactical itch. Would you say it's fair to compare it against those two games, if you've played them?

@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Thanks for that. One more question if you don't mind. What kind of laser and where did you get it?
@abrslam8 ай бұрын
Thanks for putting this out. I've been thinking about trying some hex and counter solo games but have no wargame experience except for Vietnam Solitaire which isn't hex and counter. Do you think Combat! is a good place to start? I like that it has a lot of scenarios, though I'd not often get to play the bigger ones. If not Combat what else would you recommend?
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer8 ай бұрын
Hi. Combat! is one of the few pure solitaire hex and counter game I can think of (this being a nod to the earlier 'Ambush' from 1983) and the other is the D-Day series by John Butterfield and Decision games (not recommended if you are colour blind!). There are a lot of hex and counter games that are solo friendly but you have to play both sides. But there are tons of solitaire games that don't use hex and counter and are much easier for newer players. Let me know how you get on.
@abrslam8 ай бұрын
@@RoughSwordsmanWargamerI've been watching some gameplay of a few different games. I'm leaning toward combat still. On another note, what are you using for los checking? A lazer level of some kind?
