First race back at VCHSS since 2019 and first ever B class race in a hare-scramble. I am still lacking endurance big time but the speed is coming along when I still have energy. Just need to keep getting more seat time and get in a little better shape. Probably lose some more weight as well. I'll get there in time.
6th place finish in Vet-B. Each lap got significantly slower. Lap 1 was decent and lap 2 I fell off the pace about 2 minutes. I really fell off the pace lap 3-5 anywhere from 5-8 minutes behind the leaders on each of those laps. The course was so beat out and rough and once I lost my energy and started sitting a lot I had no choice but to go extremely slow. The way the course was it was honestly worse on your body going medium to slow pace than it was a fast pace. You either skimmed over top of all the whoops and braking bumps or you felt every single inch of every one of them at slower speeds. The issue is being able to maintain that high speed pace I am just not physically able to do it with my current conditioning and strength.

Ive went from 125 to 200 to 150 and now at 250. All 2 strokes and KTM’s. I love my 250sx setup for offroad now but i still miss my 150 and 125. One day hopefully i will have both. Those small bores will really teach you how to ride imo. Nice riding, especially for the time off. Ive done the same recently and its been a challenge coming back. All my bikes i put a mid-west mountain engineering clutch lever on, its way lighter to pull even than the stock hydro clutch. Its cool to see you back racing though and doing well. Hope you continue making videos!

You ain't kidding! These small bores are so fun and they definitely teach you the fundamentals more-so than the big bikes do as there really isn't any extra power to pull you out of situations like being in the wrong gear. I also think they wear me out a little less than the big bikes. Maybe ill get back on my 250XC here once I get in better shape again who knows. I do want to race it and see how it compares soon. Hope you can stick with it too it's tough to stay at it every weekend time consuming and expensive. I need a hobby though to keep me sane so hoping I can stick to it too. Thanks!

its been a while since ive seen any of your videos. I know we talked briefly about your previous KTM 300 TPI. Looks like you ditched it and are doing good things. Also looks like your speed has increased. Good Job!

Yeah I still say to this day that 300TPI motor was the best 2 stroke motor ive ever ridden it was so damn smooth and just endless bottom end. The suspension was what I didnt like on it. I am riding a TE150 now. but may switch to a 250/300 soon bc the 150 got me in trouble a few times today on hill climbs it just doesn't have enough grunt. KZbin takes forever to process the HD version of the videos now for some reason. Few years back it would only take a couple hours.

Wholly freakin braaaap Scott way to come back from hiatus lol. I get so anxious with how close those trees look and how fast you guys fly by but i love your damn commentary it’s worth it lol. I have actually used a battery pack about the size of a rolling quarters taped to helmet for a bit longer life with little weight difference or there is a local racer Josh knight (he actually represents the USA in the 6days race often) he had a video on his helmet setup I’ll try to find for ya Keep it up this is as close to racing as I’ll get now just watching you lol. I submitted to random hard enduro rides and a ton of Adv camping off the bike as I approach half a century old now lol 😂 Cheers

I used to run an extended battery pack too on my old GoPro the last time I was racing a few years ago. That’s a good idea. I just purchased the new GoPro hero 11 mini. Hoping this little guy gives me more record time. We’ll see. I’d like to get the whole race by next year when I’m able to ride hard through the finish. Right now my last 2-3 laps get pretty boring as I get so tired and slow way down so I’m not overly concerned about not recording a whole video but once I’m battling for a good finish with the other guys in my class it makes for good video at the end.

@@SkinnySkinch totally! Man I’m jealous lol I just got a used hero 9 which is actually nice compared to what I’m used to. It seems if you do 4 k battery sucks 1080 obviously lasts longer but less quality and the 30 or 60 frames per second effect battery as well but quality is a concern as well. It’s all a balancing act
@SkinnySkinch
@SkinnySkinch Жыл бұрын
Apparently the Hero 9 is much much better than the Hero 10. The 9 records longer and doesnt have the same overheating issues the 10 does where it will cut the camera off randomly mid race. I didn't know this at the time but if you watch "Dirt Biking with Donnie" KZbin channel he talks about how the 9 is much better for what we do for recording longer in the races. The 10 basically doubled the frame rates in 4k but im not doing any slow motion recording anyways so not needed for me. I hope the 11 mini is better for me!

@@SkinnySkinch awesome, thanks for the info I’ll check those out! I’m liking the 9 now I need to get another one lol. I have the insta 360 x2 and the skydio v 1 drone which is awesome it just follows you no skills needed lol

Another great race! I've seen where those 125's and 150's can really wear you out. Though they are lighter, they require a lot more clutch work and shifting than a 250 or 300. Might want to consider that as part balancing out fitness with equipment. I'd say you are well on your way.

Thanks Paddy! Honestly I feel the 150 saves me a lot of energy over a 250/300 bc there is little to no snappiness in the power delivery. That snappiness is what makes me squeeze so tight and hold on so tight. I always put a 14 tooth sprocket on the front of all my 250s 300s Ive had to tame it down a little. I think once I get back into race shape I will get back on a 250. I have the 250XC sitting in my garage collecting dust right now. I sent you my phone number in a comment on your video did you get it?

Youre holding your own with the B class and thats after being out of the game for awhile, thats really amazing. I was driving last night when this uploaded so I wasnt able to watch it but hooked it up to my radio and listened to it and now watching it. Last night I thought he said he was just putt putting around halfway through and thought it sure doesnt sound like putt putting to me, now that I am watching it I realize you and I have completely different opinions of what putt putting is haha. Love how you asked for tips, if I dared to ask I would get 100 replies to take up needle point and sell the bike haha. I guess the college drinking game ended up no one drinking on this one, I dont think you said “ damn it” one time haha. Enogh teasing now for a serious question do you think maybe the bigger bike would make it easier on you since you wouldnt have to work it as hard? Jessie looks like he is getting the hang of that 4 stroke. Does your wife ever watch your videos and ask you if you have a death wish, mine does and I dont go anywhere near your speed haha. Man after you get back in shape I see you moving through the B class and onto the A class in no time. Stay safe

Hahahaha that's funny. I actually listened to my video last weekend and though man... you sound like a BIG BABY complaining so much. So I made an effort to not whine like a whittle baby this time 😂. I actually think a bigger bike would wear me out faster and also make my hands lock up sooner. I could be wrong but I feel like the 150 lets me ride hard for a little bit longer period of time. We'll see. I still have my 250XC. I will ride it again here soon and do a comparison. No wife here tank! I am a single free man hahaha

Yes it didn’t catch on fire but damn near close. The starter relay burned up under the seat but luckily rest of bike didn’t catch fire.
