My thoughts exactly. I think blue would’ve tried to hit that 8 stack if it wasn’t an 8 stack, which would’ve broken him and he wouldn’t have had the troops to take out black/white/purple in nearly the same time

I knew you had the W when no one else bothered the left side of the map. Big bonuses for basically free. The only opposition was their starting troops for the most part. Beautiful pivot off wanting that low center position.

I liked how all the strategies come together: taking calculated risk in using fog early at turn 1 to leave your cap unguarded to gain an early bonus, forging a one turn alliance so you can get your bonus and then betray at the right time since its in your best interest to do so - decisive action- , cleverly hiding white so you get the bounty, displayed good understanding of the flow of the game and correctly guessing the enemies probable plans in the fog, forging ahead at the right moments, and that your starting choice even though it wasn't what you thought was ideal turned out to be the best course. Nice job.

Hiding white was huge too because it led to pink breaking blue in search of white’s bounty. Pink thought blue didn’t finish the job and never even realized Pete was hiding him. It worked out perfectly.

Awesome game! Complete novice speaking but it feels to me like much of your frustration about progressive capitals is alleviated by the fog incentivizing players not to stalemate because they want more information about where things are on the board. Well played Pete. It always seems better to cap on the weak side of the map when blizzards are on. 9 times out of 10 there will be 3-4 caps fighting over the strong area. I bet you are glad white placed his cap there in the end :D

Brilliant play! Taking a sub optimal capitol but having the foresight to realize you were out of every bodies way just let you snow ball. A few lucky early kills for some extra points really really solid Pete! It’s actually fortunate white capped where he did cuz idk if you capped where you would have if not for that. It really set you up

The reason behind the easy win: All other caps were on the other side. Going last can often be helpful. You are not at the mercy of someone after you placing a cap poorly or inside you.

Wow these settings are great. Like you said, the insane bonuses prevent big stalematey moments. One of the other cap games in 2022 tourney lasted for nearly an hour and sets were in the 70+ range i think, with people having stacks of 300, this one ended much quicker. Beyond that, excellently well done game! 43/44 in 2nd round is absolutely nuts!
