You should do some videos on basic techniques for beginners, like how to get up a muddy hill, how to avoid trees, and one I am concerned about how to watch the trail while trying to follow trail markers.
@SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
man I don't think I'm really the right guy to be teaching techniques haha I just kinda do my own thing and it somewhat works. there are tons of videos on youtube though that teach the correct and proper way to do things. thats how I learned. hours and hours of videos. but as far as how to watch the trail and follow the trail markers it's honestly pretty easy. the trails are usually blocked into the one single trail, any other ways to go are usually blocked off with ribbon, at least in my series they are. plus with the other bikes and the freshly torn up ground you will be able to tell where to go pretty easily. just keep your head up try not to look directly in front of your tire bc then you won't be able to read the trail ahead very well.
@davidkaser74235 жыл бұрын
@@SkinnySkinch Just thought I would throw some ideas at you in case you ever get board. I think a video on how to attach a hoist on your bike would be a hit since red bull has been making trails with high vertical climbs that Graham Jarvis can not even get up. Must have done the layouts at a beer party.

Also, Tankerman made a comment on my video earlier but it disappeared before I could reply. Not sure if he deleted it, or if KZbin did for some reason. Could you let him know for me? @SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
haha sorry man I actually thought that the first video wasnt rendered correctly bc the angle this time is crap and way too far down. so I re uploaded the video but same issue. the viewing angle on my editing software looks taller. I can see the bikes in front of me no problem but on youtube its almost like a bit of the top of the screen is cut off. anyways yeah that was pretty tight. beleive it or not that wasnt nearly as tight as last years race on this property hahah. I loved it though. sore as all hell today.

@@SkinnySkinch I guess the is no ATV race after the bikes run....lol
@SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
@@markmtbrider no ATVs not in this series haha. this was way too tight anyways. the only series I run that races ATVs is the MidEast series. and GNCC obviously. I like that bc if they race ATV that means the course is wide and fast which is not my strong suite.
@markmtbrider5 жыл бұрын
Great ride. You kept catching him,so he must have been at the limit too. Man, take away that one hard get off, and I think you would have had enough at least to stay on his rear wheel and apply some pressure and save energy. Good one. Seemed really flat, no hill climbs.....
@SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
thanks man yeah he said he was absolutely dead afterwards but he wasnt as winded as I was I spoke to him right at the end. He had reserves bc when he saw me he took off. I kinda just didn't think I would be able to make the pass even if I was riding his rear wheel the entire time so I just tried to keep him within sight, not make any mistakes, and try to finish as close to him as possible just to let him know I got the same speed. Get in his head for the next race haha. my hands were cramping and so was my left calf. if I tried to push any harder right there at the end I woulda hit some more trees. 2nd is my best finish of the year so ill take it. never happy with being the first loser though. Yes this course was very close to the beach. theres 3 races each year in the same town but different properties all somewhat flat, and a sandy soil mix.

You keep saying that! you really should man. There are a few races that are kind of in the area of the 77/81 intersection. One in Bristol as well. I would think those are the closest to you. We do have one more in Martinsville as well this year that might be close. Fun race yesterday the course was rough beat me up good. I pushed harder than usual on the last 2 laps. got 10th overall which ties my best ever overall finish in this series. If only I could have found some energy on my second lap. I hit a wall and just cruised.

I know the GoPro doesn't do the terrain justice. But if you watch the front end of the bike it gives you a pretty good idea and it looked like a pretty rough course, add heat/humidity and it'll put a hurting on you in pretty short order!

DUDE! Great video! FYI I'll say it again, you HAVE to get some AirFlaps. Best $60-$70 you will spend, especially for riding in hot weather. Imagine being able to have your goggles lifted just off your face so you get air flow, but still have the eye protection and it's easy enough to engage, disengage while riding as it is to wipe off a camera lens... Search Ebay for AirFlaps. DO IT!!! :) 11 seconds!!! Very close. I bet if you had ridden about 5% less aggressive you'd have avoided your crashes and maybe came in first. You think? Just conjecture. I'm leaving for Colorado on Friday. Be looking for some of those videos... I am of course missing 2 rounds of races for this trip... :(

Enjoying your videos. Couple questions. I’m buying new bike , husky te 300i (2019) or the ktm xcw 300 tpi (2020). ??..... what’s your opinion? Thinking about doing harescambles again. Miss it a lot !! Lol. Thanks buddy. Oh , and what camera are you running ? Keep vids coming .... stay safe!
@SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
tlmustang hey there both bikes would be amazing! The 2020 has some updates and is technically an “all new” bike. So I would probably go that route, however, the husky version has a linkage. So depending on your previous bikes if you ride nothing but linkage bikes in past you may want the husky. The PDS is great but it feels incredibly soft compared to more motocross style bikes of past. Really though either bike would be rock solid. I use a hero 7 black and mount to the chin of my helmet with a pro shot chin mount. Got the mount off amazon. Thank you!!

The camera quit at the penultimate moment. How did you finish? Remember the guy in front of you is dying and just a fragged as you are. The Racers Kick, plan on it, this course is so tight it is very hard to pass anyone who does not want you to pass. Hard ride, more so when you decided to inspect the terrain from close range. Would narrower bars be help? Say 30 inch?
@SkinnySkinch5 жыл бұрын
oh yeah it sure did hate that I cant get a full race on the videos. I followed him through the finish, but could never make the pass. he beat me by a few seconds. we were both completely shot but I think he had a little more than I did. If I didnt have those couple get offs maybe I could have got him? I also think I was trying hard enough to catch him thats why I did have the get offs so if I wasnt trying that hard I wouldnt have caught him anyways. Potentially narrower bars would have made a difference in this race but typically we dont race quite this tight. im right at 32" WITH the bark busters. I cut 3/4" off each side of the stock bars when I first got the bike. my YZ250 bars are 30.5" and I actually do like the feel of it. I am getting a new bike in abut a mount. 300XC TPI. ill cut those a little shorter.
