Andy Ruiz has an amazing chin and durability. He was never wobbled even after taking huge shots from AJ. In round 6 for example he really received some vicious punches and if this was most other guys then AJ would have had great turnaround win. Man, with that chin, boxing skills and hand speed he really should be in contention for world championship again in the future.

absolutely crazy how hard aj hit ruiz & despite the knockdown, their was little lasting effect......however, the innocuous looking punches that ruiz landed, all of which were counters, had a profound effect on aj; physical effects that he never recovered from through the rest of the fight & psychological effects that persist to this day. Had ruiz trained for the rematch with the same level of discipline he applied for the first fight, he'd have retained the titles in similarly emphatic style.
@JanIllum
@JanIllum Жыл бұрын
I strongly disagree. Joshua adjusted his style in the rematch - much more distance boxing instead of the infighting slug-fest from the first meet. Ruiz didn't have the tools to solve that - no matter if his physique had been better
@erickstar96

@@JanIllum I honestly think the fight would have been closer, but Andy Ruiz ate the world, for the money he won. He did not train at all, the money blinded him, and indiscipline marked him. It's the price you have to pay when you drop a few thousand dollars. Andy Ruiz could have retained the title.
@dyschromotopia
@dyschromotopia Жыл бұрын
@@JanIllum Joshua fought Ruiz in the second match differently because he was petrified of being caught again & he knew Ruiz's fast hands would land every time he stood in the pocket....AJ was gunshy & Ruiz was massively overweight because he had partied hard & not trained; had he been fit & prepared, the outcome would have as it was in their first encounter. AJ demonstrated this in the Usyk fight, choosing to box against one of the greatest boxers, in his weight, in modern times because he had no confidence in his durability/punch resistance. In the rematch, with nothing to lose, rather than fight offensively, in the manner that was so successful for him and took him to the very top and as a dominant champion and against a smaller, lighter, opponent, AJ chose to employ the same tactics again in the rematch & box........surely as a result of being gun-shy? AJ has nowhere to go now, he will not beat Wilder or Fury, nor any other fighter necessary to push for another challenge for the belt/s......unless he can revert back to the style that was his winning formula but even then, no one will fear him as they once did & rush him with head shots that he is most certainly vulnerable to.

@@JanIllum Maybe maybe not. Could Roberto Duran have beaten Sugar Ray leonard in their second fight if he came in his best condition when Sugar Ray was running? Maybe. But not after the awful rushed weight loss he had to go through since his manager screwed him over. Same can be said for Ruiz. If he came in better shape, he would've been faster, more explosive. but he came in way overweight.

The ref actually asked AJ “walk to me” at the end of this round and he didn’t follow. The ref could’ve called the fight off then. He was already concussed.

Mad respect to Ruiz!!! He has the heart of a pitbull 💜 But i can't get over how simplistic people are by expecting AJ to win just because he looks better. The one is fat, the other isn't, they are both in that ring because they deserve it. Well done gents, you both showed mad heart. We all know AJ doesn't have the best chin and that's fine he will still beat the everloving shit out of the rest of us. And Ruiz, man oh man did he prepare for this fight, and it showed! Well done!
