This changed my life. I’m post asthmatic and I can breathe so much better. My right shoulder tightness is also feeling moveable. I don’t know if you know Jesus but I believe he brought me to your teaching as a blessing. Thank you and bless you.

Just tried this and it feels very relaxing. From watching these videos I definitely feel that I am in a Left AIC pattern. Conor Harris also has a video on the left AIC pattern with also good explanation. You guys should partner up for a series of videos and discussion. This understanding of how our body works is an eye opener and can help a lot of people suffering these imbalances and don’t even know it.

Neal, thanks for this. Does silent breathing in this position make sense for some people if they are restricted, so that you don't engage the secondary respiratory muscles as much

I have long haulers covid and one of my recent problems is feeling that I am only breathing in my upper front chest. It makes me panic because I cannot get air into the back of my lungs. Your demonstration feels exactly like what my ribs and neck are doing. Have you had luck with post covid patients?
@NealHallinan3 жыл бұрын
I have not worked with any post Covid clients that I'm aware of.

Awesome. Does one feel it when he has made a difference? Or it's not something that happens from one day to the next?
@NealHallinan4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes. Some people actually feel the posterior ribs open up.

90% of ppl sit with horrible posture that is the whole back rounded and rounded shoulders, meaning they spend hours in this position where they breathe 12-15 times a minute where there “rib cage expands back” so saying you need to do this everyday when ppl sit in the position all the time makes no sense
@NealHallinan3 жыл бұрын
I agree it doesn't make sense in the beginning. It does start to make sense when you realize that these people will usually have an extended lumbar spine (as shown through biomechanical testing), and the rounded shoulders are a compensation for the lower back extension/lordosis. What we see is what looks like horrible posture, but it's being driven by "the patterns" and lumbar extension. Sitting up straight with a lumbar spine that is already extended just makes things worse. It's the whole basis of Postural Restoration.

do you have any videos on how you can breathe to help fix a rotated rib cage due to scoliosis? Basically how to breathe more into the back of one side of the rib cage
@NealHallinan3 жыл бұрын
I have examples on my website and on this channel. I have interviews with scoliosis experts and they explain why precautions have to be taken with the techniques. You'll probably find them helpful.

Why is it typically the right SCM it gets very tight? I’m going to physical therapy for what we believe is costochondritis but today they learned that my right SCM and the scalene‘s are amazingly tight. So now they’re going to start focusing on that area. My whole rib cage at times feels like it’s tight and then after I get stretched the rib muscles feel burning. I’d also like to mention that when this all started about back in November my upper traps were spasming and tight and burning on a regular basis but they seem to let up a little bit since then. Any thoughts or suggestions on what’s going on and what I can do to help it. I am also working on learning how to breathe properly I’m only on my third day in.

what if your are stuck in upper thoracic flexion/ posterior pelvic tilt?
@NealHallinan5 жыл бұрын
Most people aren't actually stuck in a posterior tilt, regardless of what someone looks like. We have tests to show the position of the pelvis, in six years I've never tested someone who was in a posterior tilt. The right side of the pelvis is usually posterior, but only in comparison to the left side which is rotated forward.

what if we struggle to maintain the rounded back position?
@TheSchnarfSchnarf5 жыл бұрын
Holy shit your right, I tested my breathing to see when my low back hurts and it's really ever time I inhale. And I thought this whole time I just have a chronic APT or something
@NealHallinan5 жыл бұрын
You certainly might have chronic APT, but it's almost always due to faulty breathing mechanics. The psoas muscle, which is implicated in APT, is contiguous with the diaphragm. So if the diaphragm is out of position (which it almost always is on the left), then the psoas will be tight and hold the pelvis (usually the left side) in APT.
