I'm 62 years old. I'd heard of Rush but never actually listened to their music, presuming they were just another hard rock North American/Canadian band. Then about 6 months ago I heard YYZ. I now have all their albums from 'Rush' to Clockwork Angels, and their DVD's including Rio, R40 and this Time Machine tour. Despite being crazily talented musicians, just as important to me is their sense of fun, camaraderie and down to earth personas. It's sad that I'll never get to see them live and obviously the passing of Neil was a tragic loss but the legacy they left is huge and something to treasure.

I am 64. I also have never seen Rush live. But I did see them once on television. I remember being surprised that I was seeing Rush on TV. I don't remember if it was cable or not, and I don't remember the name of the show. What was interesting to me was, being the first time I had ever seen them, that Geddy and Eric were dressed identically. They were wearing a silvery looking one-piece jumpsuit, and they both had long straight silvery-blonde hair (wigs, I guess). They would move forward together in unison while playing their respective guitars, then they would move back in unison, and then Geddy would sing. I recall being shocked that they were just a three piece band, because they always sounded like they had at least four or five members. I don't recall which song it was they were performing, but I do remember recognizing it as Rush. I wish I could have seen them live. My favorite song by Rush is The Body Electric. I never seem to hear it performed. I don't know if they performed it during this tour or not, but I hope they did.

@@scout805 Not knocking Triumph by any means. They were also an amazing band. But let's be real here ... the ONLY similarities they share with Rush was 2 things. They were Canadian, and they were a 3 piece. That is it. They were a different kind of band ... They were hard edged rock and roll and Rik and company composed songs that were simple , structured , and radio friendly. Rush although a pure rock band at first (1975) became experimental and helped lay the groundwork of what we consider "Prog Rock" today. They were always pushing the boundaries even if mainstream didn't understand them. They stayed true to their artform and built their fan base from the ground up through word of mouth. Those are facts not opinion. There is absolutely NO WAY Triumph can be uttered in the same league as Rush. Triumph lasted several good years ... Rush ... 45yrs. And I say this loving both bands but for me, Rush was in a class all their own. Can't say that about Triumph.

Oh, I certainly understood that you were exaggerating. Seeing them all would be am astonishing feat! The Jam was a mod band with punk influences. They had a ton of hit singles, especially considering they were only together from 1977-82. They were massive in the UK, but did not do as well in North America. All that yammered, Rush's importance would be difficult to overstate. Incredible musicians, while always remaining decent people.

I'm 42, I've been a huge Rush fan since high school, I got into them seriously around 1992. Then at college in 1995 my resident advisor played bass and could play a few of their songs and had huge posters of the Moving Pictures and 2112 albums in his dorm. That was it. I picked up a cheap guitar and amp, learned some basic stuff (believe me their songs aren't basic), and we would jam as quietly loud as we could. Finally got the chance to see them live at this show. I was at this Cleveland show, floor seats just to the right of where the camera was recording it. The girl I took had never even heard of them, but she was hooked after! Man what a great show this was, and I feel so blessed to have seen them before Mr. Peart's untimely passing. My only regret? With traffic so bad we missed Sprit of Radio!!! I would have sworn they'd have closed the show with it, being one of their biggest hits, or at least played it toward the end of the show. I would have never imagined they'd open with it!!

Such a brilliant performance by three of the most talented musicians of my lifetime. I have seen a few people trying to cover this on drums. They get reasonably close in some ways but nobody gets the attack and force that Neil put through that kit. To get that much power and precision is hard. To do that without ego is mind blowing. A band that truly played for each other and in which nobody thought they were better than the other two. I’m not sure we will see the like again. Proud to have seen them in concert twice but regret I didn’t do so more often. You always think you will have time. In the end I didn’t have as much as I thought.
