Those were the times. Many black entertainers of that era 40s 50s, 60s could not perform in whites only establishments or if they did they couldn't stay at the hotels, use the restrooms, drink from the water fountains, eat at the restaurants.etc. Frank Sinatra demanded that Sammy Davis Jr. be treated equally or he would not preform. Green Book won picture of the year in 2019. It depicts some of what African American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley endured, actor Mahershala Ali who portrayed Mr. Shirley also won an Oscar. I highly recommend it. Geraldine Baker facing the same discrimination here in the US moved to Europe and became a big star particularly in France.
