Important thing for those worried about human infection. The eggs become infective after 2+ weeks. So if you have infected cat a good practice is to (after every two weeks) throw away it's litter sand completely and wash the litter, replace your bed sheets and clean up tables and floors. Doing this once in two weeks is not hard and it will keep you 100% safe. And just to make something clear. Ingesting few eggs will do nothing, infections don't work like that. You'd have to literally eat a a chunk of poop with eggs to get infected, and even then it's not guaranteed. Anything less, and your immune system will deal with it pretty effectively. You ingest and inhale parasites and bacteria all the time. That being said, if you have a cat, it's a good idea to vacuum your place a bit more often. Theoretically if infected cat lived in your room for weeks and you never cleaned it, then you could get infected if you started licking your carpet or table with your tongue. Just wash your hands before putting stuff in your mouth and you're safe. Now even if you eat cat's poop full of eggs, as long as it's not more than a week old, you won't get infected. The poop will get out of your body before the eggs become infective. Though an argument could be made that by passing through your intestines some eggs could in theory remain inside you by getting stuck on the walls. So don't eat cat's poop, ever.

Our 13 week old puppers, who has been dewormed a couple of times now, threw up what looks like a small roundworm this morning. So now I'm here, watching videos about these critters. Thanks for the insight. we noticed he coughs several times a day and my wife and I are thinking this may be the part of the roundworm gestation process where he coughs them up and then swallows them. Still not sure where he would've gotten them as he doesn't go to any parks yet and so isn't exposed to any feces aside from his own (he goes on turf in our backyard). Such a bummer for the little guy.

Did you use anything over the counter?? Most vets just prescribe what you can already get at your pet store or grocery store. I’m trying to deworm my baby girl I already did but it said 2-6hrs for it to be gone and I just found another worm and it’s day 2 and I actually overdosed her (I just wanted to give it to her ASAP I wasn’t thinking) 114mg tablet of praziquantel and pyrantel

@@nancypalacios9840 Well for my dog, his prescription didn’t get rid of it in a small amount of time. It took him over a month to fully get rid of them. I’m not an expert or anything but I’m pretty sure medicine won’t get rid of their worms that quickly. Especially in just some hours. It would be best if you just took her to the vet since they know what they are doing and can give her the proper care.

Also, my grandson would play with the cat and carry him. I'm very worried that my grandson could have been exposed to this parasite. Although, I never allowed him to ever change the litter box, but just the thought of him handling the cat while not knowing he had the roundworms is making me feel uncomfortable.??????

the number one question I have and have not gotten a good answer to, is if my cat vomited up round worms, and ive been in close contact with her (she sleeps in our bed) and we touch all the same things..its probable that I have worms in my body, how do I get rid of them? I don't know how a doctor could even diagnose such a thing! Can and should I just prophalaxis a deworming medication just cuz? (it probably wont even help if it's in a weird part of my body though...right?)

We adopted our pup at 4months old and she had what we thought was kennel cough . It went away but then she got tapeworm from my cat who lived outside where he was fostered. We got rid of that and like 2 weeks ago she ate shit when we went for a walk. I JUST found a worm 2 days ago we stole the medication bc we’re broke atm and struggling. She got bad diarrhea from the worms and medication but I still occasionally see one in her poop. I actually overdosed her on parynttel praziquantel I gave her the whole 114mg tablet when she was supposed to have like half of it. According to the box it should’ve killed them in 2-6hrs Idk what to do Idk if my other 2 cats have it our dog is the only one who had symptoms right now she’s been throwing up for a week

I have a cat/kitten he is eight months old. I saw worms in his stool yesterday, by the look of the worms, I assuming they are roundworms. I can not afford to have him medically treated, so I plan to take him to a no kill shelter tomorrow, so they could get him the proper treatment for this disgusting parasite. What my secondary concern is, is that fact that roundworms can be passed to humans, mainly me. I have some concerns for myself, because my cat would do cat like behavior to me, like for instance, every morning he would climb onto my bed and get in my face and head butt me with his nose 👃 and mouth 👄. knowing that animals like licking themselves this would annoy me, because it's not hygienic the allow an animal so close to parts of your body that would allow germ to invade you. Also taking into consideration that the cat has roundworms, he would sit on my bed with his little infectious butt. With all that said, is there a potential for me to contract roundworms????? I feel nauseous just thinking about it! Because 1. The cat would head butt me whenever he wanted me to feed him 2. He laid on my bed frequently 3. My grandson would play and hold/carry him.
