Wow! That was a beautiful 727! They do tend to take off at a low angle, especially at high altitude. I live near SKBOG which is at nearly 8500ft above sea level and the five 727's that are still in service always take off at a low angle, even more so if they are heavy. By the way, very nicely filmed, beautiful piece of footage with awsome sound! Thank you very much for this audio-visual pleasure! I am subscribing to your channel.

Awesome 727 takeoff! Love the angle, and miss that 'ol bird! Used to watch them everyday back in the early 90's. And you nailed the sound just right! Nothing like the sound of the 727

Thanks for the 727 footage...always my favorite airplane, she flew like a lady. Miss seeing her - those big old wide bodies aren't necessarily better

Wow - that 727 take off was really interesting - and, hello dirty jet trail, you give Dirty Delta a run for her money!!! Fantastic footage - as always!! :)

This 727 didn't seem to climb any less than the regional jet after it. ATA 727's always climbed slowly out of LAS in the 100+degree summer heat with their full planes loaded with Jet-A fuel for the flights to IND & MDW. I loved those planes!! They were so quiet on the inside. You could tell they were working hard in the high, hot desert to get up to altitude... but it sure was a nice smooth ride!!

Dana Danarosana I flew the 727 for a few years early in my career and I can confirm it was not a great performer when heavy out of hot and/or high airports. ABQ, PHX, and LAS could be marginal in the summer, and certainly the MGTOW hot/high V1 cuts in the sim were eye opening to say the least. Despite the horribly noisy cockpit, it had legions of fans that stayed on it until the bitter end. I wasn't really a particular fan, honestly, but I'm glad I got to fly it.

If you're wondering about this airplane's paint job, it used to be owned by the Miami Heat.

The airplane is special as any other 727, but the take off profile is normal for 727. Those hush kits do work (if the audio is correct). Very little difference from the E-145s afterwards (again, if the audio is correct). Excellent paint job. I have seen this bird in CLT when I worked there. Great video, thanks.

There may have been noise abatement procedures after takeoff for the surrounding towns. Keeping the throttle low to reduce noise maybe?

Hmmm... Not rocket climb by the 727?

The 27 just looks elegant and graceful..no hurry to get up.. It knows its powerful and it knows what it can do, but why rush it. Let me look like i own the sky for s few minutes.

Beautiful airplane. Sized right, great climb out performance. Loved that airplane. Air Canada had a ton of them and they were all brand new as they were some of the last one's made by boeing.

This one had the same type of JT8D as the MD-80.
@TheCannonofMohammed10 жыл бұрын
Not this one. This one had standard JT8D's with a "muffler" extension. Valsan made a conversion that kept the JTD-15 in the center and swapped out the outboard engines with the JT8D-200 series. Not many around.

Hank Fuddle Yeah, those planes will be missed, they're much better than any of those new Airbuses and Boeings, plus the sound cant be compared.
@video197410 жыл бұрын
Hank Fuddle Yeah, true, in the early 1990's many airports were cracking down on loud jet noise with "noise abatement" regulations and so the louder jets like all the JT8D birds (DC-9, MD-80 family, 727, 737-200) were on the chopping block. Albeit there are still a handful of MD-88's still flying with regular daily flights with American and Delta, but their days are numbered. in the late 1990's they installed "hush-kits" on all the 727's to try to quiet them down, but heck, they didn't do any good, LoL. The JT8D was just a noisy powerplant and I miss it terribly. All the airlines mothballed the 727 unanimously altogether in the year 2003 due to several inefficiencies like the fact that it had 3 engines. The airlines were demanding an all-jet fleet with only 2 engine birds. 2 engines equates to less fuel burn but could travel the same speeds and trip times as the 3 engine 727. Plus the 727 required a 3rd crew member, the flight engineer. Airlines cut that out. One less person to pay, and flight automation integrated the Flight engineers job into the computer. Also, the FAA came up with the "ETOPS" regulation, meaning, "Engines Turn Or People Swim" which incorporates provision for a "2" engine aircraft. This is the criteria that knocked the 727 out of operation, along with the DC-10, MD-11, and L1011 Tri-stars. They all had 3 engines along with a flight engineer. I m truly miss ALL of these fantastic birds.

I think you are thinking about the small aircrafts ones, yes, they look like MD babies. But they aren't MD. Those are Embraer 145 with Rolls-Royce engines. They have 55 seats.

The three holers never had a great climb rate but the 100 series was better being lighter
