So what caused the blade to break? There's a learning point in there somewhere. Either to know what not to do or to know what to listen for and back off before it break - maybe.

Sometimes bandsaw blades just break. Whether it be due to age, or some microscopic flaw, having overheated and cracked at some point, or a possible flaw in the weld. It could be forgetting to let the tension off a blade when not in use, then having to retension it above the original stretch intended. It could be a hard knot in some hardwood along the way or any number of unforseen things that happened at the factory, the blade assembly place (where they weld them to length, to order) a hard knock when unspooling them, or during use. It will happen to everyone at some point during the use of a bandsaw. So always have your safety gaurds in place and never defeat the safety switches. The point is, bandsaw blades break. So keep up with your safety practices, and listen to your equipment. Sometimes you'll hear the difference in time, sometimes you won't. Sometimes it depends on how intune you are with the sounds of your shop or if you are jamming to a tune on the radio or listening to an audio book. Tools will talk to you, but only if you listen to them, uninterrupted by distractions.

You mentioned that you covered draw boards in one of your videos. Which One? I started looking thru the titles and decided to just ask. By the way this is a great series. I'm in the process of making or modifying stands several power tools that I inherited from my dad. All are older than I am and I'm 67

I'm in the middle of a copyright strike on that video. Evidentally someone copied it, reuploaded it and now claims it as their own and is trying to get my version taken down. Welcome to being a KZbin creator.

You may or may not know that the 1/3 rule actually stems from the Golden Ratio. Although it doesn't actually equal 1/3, it's pretty close.

The math of the Golden Ratio in nature is really quite close to thirds. Most will not pick up on the difference unless a third is hidden amongst a group of true golden ratio items. They may not even realize why the third is off, just that something is not quite right with that itteration. A stand alone third is close enough to most humans to be undetectable. Maybe 1 in 1,000,000 people can detect that the proportion is somehow off "just a bit" these are the true mathematical geniuses. Maybe one in ten-thousand crafts-persons, who try, have the skill to attain the exact ratio, after planing and finish work, when measured with a micrometer's accuracy. So, for most of us, thirds is plenty close enough. Those worried about the Golden Ratio, in previous comments, can drive themselves crazy trying to attain it if they wish. The odds that anyone looking at my work will notice is astronomical. I will surely be my own worst crittic.

Sorry, my issue, not anyone else's. I have issue when someone takes the time to put a lesson together and give of themselves and though I am quite sure the comment about the Golden Ratio was informative only, my damaged brain took it as a challenge that the thirds was not good enough, and I jumped into guardian mode. My appologies.
