Thanks. That is really helpful. Got my machine for a week and have been struggling a bit with the routing (audio vs. midi, groups vs. sounds, ...). Your setup makes a lot of sense.

The SideKick 5 plug-in from Twisted Lemon is said to be able to handle side-chaining within Maschine and Ableton. Could you please let us know what you think of it ? (demo available on the website)

Hey! Great video! Do you know if this type of integration from Maschine with Live works with MIDI tracks and signals? Can I export MIDI information from the different groups to different tracks? Thanks in advance!

Cool, this is a huge help, especially since it avoids having to use plug-ins inside of a plug-in (Maschine) for effects, comps, etc. I'll definitely be using this technique. Thx!

there is a question i have about maschine and ableton for sooo long and sadowick, you seem to know everything :) so i have to ask... i heard this in an interview so i know its possible, although it seems that nobody knows about it! the question is, how to route midi as oposed to audio? im not talking about draggin and dropping the midi! how it was described in the interview, he (troy pierce), said that he uses the step sequencer from maschine to sequence a synth in ableton

i was just wondering would you realy need ableton live for the maschine? does it make the workflow easier, or whats the pros about having it versus just the maschine software?
@BodhiGeraci9 жыл бұрын
Ableton better for mastering, implementing audio such as vocals, automation clips etc all things maschine can't do...

hey I did all this, but why on my maschine hardware it will not light up my PLAY button to sample what I am doing?? Its like Ableton is shutting down my ability to play before I record? Please help?

when you open machine as VST within Live, Live's Transport becomes the master transport. Your play button on Maschine is not illuminating because it is disregarded in this application. your space bar is tied to ableton Live's transport "play and stop". Record is still operable on Maschine but only in regard to Maschine. To control all functions with Maschine, you must switch to controller mode (shift+Control on the Maschine hardware). This will toggle you back and forth between Perform mode and Controller Mode on Maschine hardware (allowing you to play your machine as instruments and record notation in Maschine, or by switching to Controller Mode, to control clip changes and transport play/record functions in abletonLive using the Maschine hardware). There are a number of great tutorials from Sounds and Gear, Ken Flux Pierce, Knock Squared, and DubSpot, among many others on how to harness all the power that Maschine affords you.

how do you open maschine's saved groups into ableton?
@lostalliere11 жыл бұрын
i did the same...ableton doesn't register midi when i rec...any solution?
@ginkgo810711 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no. I think the best you could do would be use the "Drag MIDI" feature from Maschine into Live. Likewise, you can use a Drum Maschine to sequence the sounds of Maschine, but it won't input the MIDI notes. Just a limitation that we have to learn to work with.

i started a project, everything worked perfect. I saved my session and when I tried to open it up again, I could not get machine controller screen to pop up. The maschine controller's pads are lit up, I just don't see the page. i hope you understand. as soon as you use machine as plug in device machine starts and the image pops up on screen.

I PERSONALLY WANT TO ROUTE ANY INTERNAL MASCHINE FX IN ANY CHANNEL IN ABLETON...I CAN RECORD THE SOUND WITH THE FX IN IT BUT I WANT TO ROUTE ANY AUDIO OR MIDI CHANNEL BACK TO MASCHINE TO BATH THE SOUND AND ROUTE IT BACK TO ABLETON...I GUESS I WAS CLEAR...

you seriously have to do all this to connect a maschine to ableton? im wondering if its just better to use maschine because man, do all that just to connect maschine is a pain in da ass,..
@Y0utubeIsFuckingHomo6 жыл бұрын
Andres Marín Gallo It is not that hard. Also just save yourself an Ableton file with Maschine already set up, instead of doing it all the time
