Wanted to ask.. have a rovan 36cc engine.. exhaust threads have worn out.. I brought a new piston and head.. fitted it with a gasket but it leaked on the seal between the head and crank casing.. without a gasket it’s tighter and provides some compression but not enough.. what options do I have to resolve this if I don’t have any shops that can skim the head?

Howzit Most engineering shops won't touch these small cylinders. We are lucky to know someone that knows someone. Dropping it without them gasket will make a difference but not as much as you would like. All the engineer has to do is put it in a laith and deck the bottom by 0.8mm.

I did cut the base of the cylinder to be exsact .98mm almost 1mm then i replace new base gasket to have the squish clearance that i want. & yes it really rip out..

What are your thoughts on the Rovan 45cc engine. Is the squish good from the factory as well as carburetor or would I have to do some digging in before running it

It's a very powerful engine but it has some heat issues. Good out of the box but just keep play time to 10min a shot

Not as bad. We still remove the gasket on that one but was much better.

I'm not sure what the Rampage part no is but the Rovan equivalent will be 670114 and the Zenoah G320 part will be CA296 from DDM

Dominik it is a very depressing subject. All those brand new motors are still just like that on my desk. We had house renovations and then we had to build another lady a mudhouse. Then my family of 7 fell ill 🤦 I am wishing to get those motors going ASAP.

Cut down on the crankcase.. so u only do it at once. U wont have to cut the cylinder bottom deck every time u replace the new cylinder.

Yes true, but if you cut it for a 32 you cannot use it for a 36. Thus we cut each cylinder to each own specs. It is also a lot easier to cut the cylinder than the crankcase

@@EZR adding 36 stroker on 32 cyl only require 1mm piston crown removed. This will fix free port issue on the intake side. Existing cut down case is usable.

End of the day it's down to which is easiest for the user. If you find it easier to machine the crank case then that will work. I'm just expressing what's easier for us and in the end less stress for our customers. Straight fit, no maths needed.

Howzit Aaron. As far as I know Rovan/Rofun does not stock a 38cc. If you want to do this to any engine you need to measure the squish then assess how much should come off. Your aim is between 0.2 and 0.3mm

29cc is fine from Rovan. But they have no intention in fixing their mistake. You will clearly see if the bottom of a cylinder was cut or not. I'll post a photo of the difference soon.

You will not know unless you can strip and measure the squish. Big performance difference. The stock 29 will give the stock 32 stick. Best cheapest motor you can get in the market now is the King Motor REV.

Howzit HS. It depends on the type of riding and fuel/oil mix. Best case scenario - 15min bashes at a time with castor based oil with rich settings, it'll go forever. You can also kill it within 5min running in dusty conditions without a prepared air filter. In my experience with all our customers they swop motors every 2years on average.

Howzit... Uhm... Well put. Yeah drive it broken and replace. It is a good off road drag race motor and that's it. No other use for it. And the double ring is just extra friction. You can take the bottom ring off.
