I think can, but you will have low performance for steering servo. As the tire and servo are big, it will turn but not as quick as Lipo battery does.

Hi, can i use 7.4v instead of the original 6v battery for the receiver? Tqvm

technically can, i use lipo battery on it..but...i have set fail safe on my radio which turn my throttle servo to 100% brake whenever my radio lost transmission. And, due the excessive end point my servo died. Im not sure whether it cause by the battery or cause by the excessive end point of the servo. But my steering servo still ok and its more responsive when using Lipo battery. I hope it answer your question.
