I tried this technique on a 2011 supercharged truck and it didn't succeed. The brake lights lit and that was all.

well getting through the number plate lamps means your truck is 06 and below the 07+ that is not an option and did you damage the plastic lens of the light? just for the future if any have this problem just grabe the side marker and just pop it out and give it 12v

12v to the trailer harness port? Maybe could've saved the whole 30 seconds it took to pull the plate light.

Unless it was left with the lights on I do not understand how that could possibly work. Also it would be the risk of running to much amps blowing the fuse.
