The rover 75 is a fanastic car, everything about it is just right, 4/5 stars for safety rating, smooth, powerfull, good mpg, cheap insurance what more could you want? I am in my 40's I have driven saab's, Mercs, nissian etc etc. And i can truthfully say that my 75 is the best out of the lot. British and Proud.

So sad to see it all gone. Only in Britain would we not support are own, which is such a shame as we have the engineering excellence in this country to be world class. R.I.P Rover. Gone, but never forgotten.

Not a case of not supporting our own. The factory was knackered, it would of cost 10s of millions to put right plus the engineering was so dated it would of cost the same to get it up to date so they broke it up and sold all the parts because they were worth more then the whole brand put together.

Blame the accountants.. There was real engineering talent within those companies who were not allowed through financial constraint to fully develop the ideas/designs they had..

Yes disgraceful.. But strangely corrupt VW invested in Skoda and Seat, and despite promises, BMW didn't invest in new range!!

"No cheese, Gromit. Look at all this MG-Rover Longbridge being colonized and liquidated in the name of SAIC-MG Motors!" said Wallace face on His Majesty painting ironically the paint seeing red.

Yet more of our heritage wiped from existence.Labour,in their recent rule, introduced taxation on empty industrial buildings, owners of such buildings now have to pay tax even if they are not in use.The majority of owners realising that it would be a long time before such buildings might see use again decided it would be cheaper to demolish them. This pleased the gov as land was freed up for shitty housing.Where these tennants are going to work hasn't been considered, though most have never worked

Rover should have been saved. They saved Northern Rock eh when they had to?. the UK government would rather put its own people on the dole. Rover did have replacements ,look elsware on utube for the prototypes. and far better looking than the renault/citroen junk out now and yes i own an MG SVR and a 45, absolutely fantastic cars. the mini died when BMW moved out. it is now a BMW and not a mini

Very sad! Not looking forward to the Chinese motor car increasing in popularity solely based on its price. You pay for what you get. For the record, my Father lost his job overseas as a British Leyland factory trained mechanic. That said, I drive a Land Rover and wouldn't have it any other way ;-)
