Rowan Atkinson is unlike most comedians. Comedians are funny first and base their acting on their humor only. Rowan, on the other hand, was a great actor who happened to be good at making people laugh. This video is perfect evidence of this.

Shane Bowman to be an atheist is to have disbelief in God, not disbelief in religion. His argument doesnt base on the existence of God, instead it is based on the existence of the ways of religion. How it works and how it shouldnt work and sadly how it isnt working as it is to whats happening in the present. He's setting an example, through performances, that would make people see "this is what shouldnt happen", "this is what should have happened" , "however this is whats happenning now". To argue with religion, absolutely doesnt mean to be an atheist. I am not degrading those who are atheists, im simply subjecting that its not right to say that rowan atkinson is an atheist becoz he questions the ways of religion

Sometimes, I think it's cruel giving machines a personality. My mate Petersen once bought a pair of shoes with Artificial Intelligence. 'Smart Shoes' they were called. It was a neat idea: no matter how blind drunk you were, they could always get you home. But he got ratted one night in Oslo and woke up the next morning in Burma. You see, the shoes got bored just going from his local to the flat. They wanted to see the world, like, you know. He had a hell of a job getting rid of them. No matter who he sold them to, they'd show up again the next day. He tried to shut them out, but they just kicked the door down, you know. Yeah. Last thing he heard, they'd sort of, erm, robbed a car and drove it into a canal. They couldn't steer, you see. Petersen was really, really blown away about it. He went to see a priest. The priest told him... he said it was alright and all that, like, and that the shoes were happy and that they'd gone to heaven. You see, it turns out shoes have souls.

This is one of the most profound statements I have ever heard. From a comedian, no less. In one of my last classes in seminary, the professor commented that, now that we were about to graduate, one thing that we should have learned in those three years is that we hardly know anything, especially about God, and by the end of our ministry, we will realize we know even less. Some 40 years on, when people ask me about God, I reply that God is mysterious, and all we really know is that (S)He is full of grace, and we can only hope to live in that. I did not expect this from Mr. Bean, but I get the sense that he knew whereof he spoke.

@ David Irving: Hi, David. Forgive me for saying so… but it’s safe to say that JESUS knows a lot more about God than we do, being Divine Himself & “God the Son” in the Holy Trinity. Therefore, since HE HIMSELF always referred to God & also addressed HIM as “FATHER”, that’s certainly good enough for us… (Our FATHER who art in Heaven…?) & why the use of the term “(S)He” when referring to Him - contrary to anything that one finds in God’s Holy Bible - is a modern affectation that should be vigorously discouraged at the very least…..

@@suomipoika1796 Will it be considered ''selfish'' if a child asks not to be raped? Or if another asks to be cured of cancer? Will your God, who is so concerned about the welfare of a king, have the time and inclination to listen to a starving child in Syria?
@suomipoika17963 жыл бұрын
@@JD-ro7xe My father is dying on small cell lung cancer as we speak, so i would say it's not selfish... What i meant by selfish was the things we ask from god. Make me rich, make me famous, make my life better, i don't want any pain. The thing is that our point in life is not to be rich, not to be famous, have a easy life... Our meaning is to help one another, we are not here to be served, we are here to serve. That child would not be raped if the person doing that would not be selfish. Each action we do will affect others, our selfish actions will hurt others. Every bad thing happening in this world starts from selfish action. When you serve yourself you are not making the world better place. So a child asking for help or a dying person asking for healing it's not selfish.

@@suomipoika1796 Sorry to hear about your father. I have no words to comfort you. With all the pain and suffering in the world, it is difficult to believe there is a God. Wishing for wealth and enjoyment can't be considered selfish. What's wrong with wealth? It's the religions that glorify poverty. All creatures are made selfish. It's the basic rule for survival. Only animals that live in groups help each other. But that also is to ensure their own survival . God read nature, has made us so.

The character "Grace" is phenomenal in this movie, accidentally to which she was referred in this convention by vicar. The music is also very catchy and compliments the situations in the movie. It's a must watch movie though it is referred as a dark comedy. You will fell in love with all the characters especially Grace...

Rowan has such a majestic, magnetic voice. If he does not have an audio bookl series, he really, really should. Rowan reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (for example) would be up there with Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter books or Morgan Freeman reading anything.

Um, yeah he's acting. His words are in the script. But... "To criticize a person for their race is manifestly irrational and ridiculous, but to criticize their religion, that is a right. That is a freedom. The freedom to criticize ideas, any ideas- even if they are sincerely held beliefs- is one of the fundamental freedoms of society. A law which attempts to say you can criticize and ridicule ideas as long as they are not religious ideas is a very peculiar law indeed." - Rowan Atkinson, 2004, commenting on Britain's Racial and Religious Hatred Bil.

" Our Lord doesn't want us to question too much" , which implies that actual faith always seeks a degree of understanding from reason. In fact the Catechism of the Catholic Church, states that, starting with the creation man can unfailingly recognise the Creator ,albeit not fully nor exhaustively .
