Rowan Atkinson is unlike most comedians. Comedians are funny first and base their acting on their humor only. Rowan, on the other hand, was a great actor who happened to be good at making people laugh. This video is perfect evidence of this.

zoe mateo wrote: "When Rowan blanks out after he said 'a little of God's grace' and continues with 'and all of our problems seem to fade away' Hits me right in the chest, penetrates the rib cage and right in the heart." Sometimes that is the best thing to do--like being engaged in a loud, emotionally intense argument (that one was usually drawn into) and suddenly deciding to sit back, relax, and ask, "Is this *really* worth shouting at each other for? Yelling doesn't make any wrong idea right, or a right one wrong."

I love the way he paused, as the revelation of God's Grace poured over him. The Grace of God is the Love of God on display. The Grace of God is the the central Truth, which is the answer to this very lost world. 🌏 For it is by Grace you are saved through Faith and it's not of works lest any man boast, it is THE GIFT OF GOD. Ephesians 2:8,9. GRACE! A very short word, but a very important one. I really like Rowen Atkinson, I really do. Brilliantly done! Blessings and kindest regards David from Australia. 🌏 🙄☝️

Shane Bowman to be an atheist is to have disbelief in God, not disbelief in religion. His argument doesnt base on the existence of God, instead it is based on the existence of the ways of religion. How it works and how it shouldnt work and sadly how it isnt working as it is to whats happening in the present. He's setting an example, through performances, that would make people see "this is what shouldnt happen", "this is what should have happened" , "however this is whats happenning now". To argue with religion, absolutely doesnt mean to be an atheist. I am not degrading those who are atheists, im simply subjecting that its not right to say that rowan atkinson is an atheist becoz he questions the ways of religion

Sometimes, I think it's cruel giving machines a personality. My mate Petersen once bought a pair of shoes with Artificial Intelligence. 'Smart Shoes' they were called. It was a neat idea: no matter how blind drunk you were, they could always get you home. But he got ratted one night in Oslo and woke up the next morning in Burma. You see, the shoes got bored just going from his local to the flat. They wanted to see the world, like, you know. He had a hell of a job getting rid of them. No matter who he sold them to, they'd show up again the next day. He tried to shut them out, but they just kicked the door down, you know. Yeah. Last thing he heard, they'd sort of, erm, robbed a car and drove it into a canal. They couldn't steer, you see. Petersen was really, really blown away about it. He went to see a priest. The priest told him... he said it was alright and all that, like, and that the shoes were happy and that they'd gone to heaven. You see, it turns out shoes have souls.

This is one of the most profound statements I have ever heard. From a comedian, no less. In one of my last classes in seminary, the professor commented that, now that we were about to graduate, one thing that we should have learned in those three years is that we hardly know anything, especially about God, and by the end of our ministry, we will realize we know even less. Some 40 years on, when people ask me about God, I reply that God is mysterious, and all we really know is that (S)He is full of grace, and we can only hope to live in that. I did not expect this from Mr. Bean, but I get the sense that he knew whereof he spoke.

@ David Irving: Hi, David. Forgive me for saying so… but it’s safe to say that JESUS knows a lot more about God than we do, being Divine Himself & “God the Son” in the Holy Trinity. Therefore, since HE HIMSELF always referred to God & also addressed HIM as “FATHER”, that’s certainly good enough for us… (Our FATHER who art in Heaven…?) & why the use of the term “(S)He” when referring to Him - contrary to anything that one finds in God’s Holy Bible - is a modern affectation that should be vigorously discouraged at the very least…..

It seems more profound than it is when taken out of context. This is from the 2005 film "Keeping Mum". When he says "A little of God's grace", he pauses because at that moment he realizes that a lot of his family's problems have been solved by their new, elderly housekeeper Grace. And that her way of solving problems is very much not Christian.

The character "Grace" is phenomenal in this movie, accidentally to which she was referred in this convention by vicar. The music is also very catchy and compliments the situations in the movie. It's a must watch movie though it is referred as a dark comedy. You will fell in love with all the characters especially Grace...

Joseph Scott sorry if I was unclear. I didn't at all mean people without religion are heartless, that would be ridiculous to say. What I meant is that even though he was acting out beliefs he didn't personally hold this scene still carried a lot of emotional weight. I was complimenting him on his acting skill, not denigrating people with different beliefs.

If God didn't want us to question him, he wouldn't have given us a questioning mind. We have every right to question God since we are questioning about things that affect us. Well, that's too bad, God.

And thus in the bible we have the book of Job. It really tells us what it means ''my ways are not your ways''. When we start questioning god it comes to the selfish aspect, but god's actions will affect everyone. Also God said he will grant any wish to Solomon, any wish he desire... And what Solomon asked made god give him even more. God want's us to ask questions, but we should not question his actions with selfish mind.

@@suomipoika1796 Will it be considered ''selfish'' if a child asks not to be raped? Or if another asks to be cured of cancer? Will your God, who is so concerned about the welfare of a king, have the time and inclination to listen to a starving child in Syria?

@@JD-ro7xe My father is dying on small cell lung cancer as we speak, so i would say it's not selfish... What i meant by selfish was the things we ask from god. Make me rich, make me famous, make my life better, i don't want any pain. The thing is that our point in life is not to be rich, not to be famous, have a easy life... Our meaning is to help one another, we are not here to be served, we are here to serve. That child would not be raped if the person doing that would not be selfish. Each action we do will affect others, our selfish actions will hurt others. Every bad thing happening in this world starts from selfish action. When you serve yourself you are not making the world better place. So a child asking for help or a dying person asking for healing it's not selfish.

@@suomipoika1796 Sorry to hear about your father. I have no words to comfort you. With all the pain and suffering in the world, it is difficult to believe there is a God. Wishing for wealth and enjoyment can't be considered selfish. What's wrong with wealth? It's the religions that glorify poverty. All creatures are made selfish. It's the basic rule for survival. Only animals that live in groups help each other. But that also is to ensure their own survival . God read nature, has made us so.

The problem with saying that "God's ways are mysterious." is that you can say that with anything. Pray to a plastic bag and if you don't get what you want, the plastic bag is just being mysterious.
@ajam1013
@ajam1013 10 жыл бұрын
That's a good statement, except that praying to an inanimate object is not the same as praying to God. Surely you can pray to a plastic bag and try to believe in it, but it is only a plastic bag, it does not talk and it will not help you.... ever. On the other hand, praying to God who is a real being and someone you CAN talk to is very different. Just because God doesn't answer your prayer right then doesn't mean he doesn't hear you or isn't working. Even in his silence, he speaks.He never stops working. He is also very much doing something else somewhere else in the world at all times. Things you wouldn't believe even if they were told to you. So yes, it is okay to say "God's ways are mysterious" because He is a very unpredictable God. If God had made it so that we were 100% like him, and we had the same knowledge as him, then there would be no reason to follow God or need God. I hope that answers your comment.

@ajam1013
@ajam1013 10 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I've wondered that most of my life as well. It's been a recent thing I have discovered while i have been here on a missionary trip in Costa, Rica. The reason I know it's not my own voice or conscience speaking to me. Is because I know with 100% confidence some of the things he's said to me would not in anyway be something i would ever say. That's number one. Another reason is when he is talking it's usually something convicting. Why would I want to convict myself? that doesn't make sense. Another reason is when It's God talking It's usually something challenging and uncomfortable. He doesn't talk to us physically. He could if he wanted to. God can speak to us in anyway he wants. But that was something that happened in the old testament. He doesn't typically use sensational means of communication in this age. He mainly talks to us through the Holy spirit which only lives in those who believe in Jesus and what he did on the cross and his resurrection, Through his word (the Bible), and sometimes even through other people. This is how I know it's not me talking to myself. I hope this answers your question.
@rogerkreil3314
@rogerkreil3314 10 жыл бұрын
Isaac Hull Depending on how optimistic or pessimistic you are on a certain day, you may imagine God saying "Do this." or "Don't do this." People are hard on themselves all the time. So it isn't surprising that they could be hard on themselves and imagine that it is God behind it. And you read things that are relevant to something you are going through and think that God led you to that passage. But it may just be a coincidence.
@ajam1013
@ajam1013 10 жыл бұрын
Roger Kreil Well.. I guess to that I would have to say that's where faith comes into place. The evidence that we have of the existence of there being a higher deity gives us confidence that it really is the voice of God. Another way to tell if it is God's voice is to revert to the scriptures. God will never tell us to do anything or to not do something that is going to contradict what the Bible says. Just for a simple example: let's just say you thought God was telling you to go murder some person because they wronged you very badly. You were so confident that it was him because it felt like that is what the person deserved, but then you go to the Bible and it says Do not murder. It also says in Matthew when Jesus was giving the sermon on the mount. He talks about revenge. He says if a person wrongs you, give them the other cheek. Now granted, that is a little on the extreme side. but it gets my point across. Obviously God is never going to permit someone to murder, but that is one way to simply explain whether what you think you are hearing is from God or from yourself. If it in any way contradicts the Bible it's probably you talking, or even possibly the enemy(Satan) talking to you trying to deceive you. Does that make sense?

What delight comes to those who follow God's ways! They won't walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner's way, nor be found sitting in the scorer's seat. Their pleasure & passion is remaining true to the Wors of "I AM", meditating day & night in His true revelation of light. But how different are the wicked. All they are is dust in the wind - driven away to destruction. Psalm 1.
@sidpheasant7585

I have felt that so tangibly since I was "born again" ... on Transfiguration Day this year. I do occasionally feel re-echoes of the wicked temptations that filled my life before, but when there are periods of even a few hours when I think the Spirit might have left me alone again, there is fear and emptiness whose disappearance when the reconnect happens is a source of huge joy and resupply with energy. I now have no doubt that The Bible refers to true phenomena among real people (not least Jesus and Paul - who seem remarkably tangible and whole and cohesive). When St Paul repeats so regularly how kind God has been to him, I feel it and know it and share it. Having had my own Damascene conversion, I can assure one and all that following God's ways is REALLY, REALLY a source of delight ... and meaning and inspiration and truth and connectivity too.
