With absolute respect and no licentious intent, these ladies are as beautiful as they are artists. Bryn is just "scrumptious". WOW..... the expressive bass player is a rare find; she is "one with her instrument"..... essentially born to play, and carrying out that mission with heart n' soul. LessThanFace, many thanks for sharing this.

At 55:00+ Midnight Moonlight, the playing is great, but NOBODY beats Vassar's solo on Old & In The Way- NOBODY.

Sennheiser 421s from the front row of the balcony dead center. This is what we got. I'm pretty sure that there was a set of Neumanns just left and center.

This complete set was performed during the Downtown Hoedown at the Tennessee Theater along with the Sam Bush Band and the Hackensaw Boys. It was a great combination and Tony was at the very top of his game. Best wishes to all from Less Than Face Productions.

I always admired Tony Rice and Peter Rowan as musicians and bluegrass singers but what's in the girls' water caz hell they can sing and that mandolin picker is awesome and Bryn Davies can really make that bass talk. Anybody know where Sharon Gilchrist is playin now ? Thanks for sharin.

strawman8 Was reading up on Bryn Davies FB page--she did a degree at Berklee School of Music in jazz performance, and plays multiple instruments. As good as they look, they were hired for their serious chops!!

Are Sharon Gilchrist and Bryn Davies sisters or related somehow? They look a lot alike but more importantly they harmonize like only siblings or family can. Their voices blend beautifully. Does anyone happen to know if they are kin of some sort?

How can you sit in a sound booth with headphones on and MISS the levels. Probably have scopes on them and all. Must have been good weed or SOMETHING??

alanyoung2 Always good to have microphones and "solid-state" pickups ..... you can always go back if you record and change the mix.

It sounds as if the entire feed is from the camera mic, and little to no board-to-video auxiliary feed. It's quite the challenge to isolate acoustic instruments in such a large space, especially with the natural reverb around them. This is as close to "being there" as it'll get; the sound man was probably as good as they get and not connected to the camera.

@@oneworld9071 Audio for the entire gig(the Downtown Hodown) was a little low. I ran Nakamich 300s into a 4-channel mixer and then into a Sony Digital 8 mini input. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could redo the audio(if I could ever get around to it).
