I'm real glad I found your channel bro, I own what is probably the highest mileage Evo X in Australia, if not the world (almost 300,000km), and guess what? The AYC pump has died. It would also probably benefit from the SST doing a re-teach, (it's still on stock, original clutches) and lo and behold, you've covered that as well! I'm picking up the car from its engine rebuild on Friday 20 Nov 2020, so I've got a week to watch the whole content of your channel. Keep up the good work mate.

Solid video, only thing I'd mention is that the bolts are also an access point for water, especially now that the housing has been ground away. Putting silicon where they enter the housing might help as well, after the bolts have been installed.

Thanks for the comment. I thought the same so sealed them up with silicone

If you're doing this ever again and don't have any time pressure heat the body of the pump up then spray those bolts with wurth rost off and let it cool. As it cools it will draw the rost off in which breaks down the rust. Do it a few times and by the end the bolts will just about undo themselves for you. Takes some patience but looked like the alternative did anyway. Also the "ring thing" at about 20 mins is a thrust washer.

I would apply raptor liner bedliner. Place it in the trunk afterwards. Will not corode anymore again. Permanent fix.

mine had gone again just slightly over 12mths re-ferbed by harry hockly! motor brushes i hope? my motor is almost twice the size as yours maybe an up graded one? thinking on plasti diping it would protect it better. and cheaper than relocating it.

AYC and ACD the same pump essentially? My ACD pump needs to get rebuilt on my 09 RA and was wondering if this would be the same.

When you consider that the Evo X is the most recent, that AYC pump was terrible looking inside. Makes you wonder if it's the UK weather & the salt that is put on our roads in winter that ruins these pumps.

50k mile car can you believe! It should be sorted for some time now
@Zerofightervi5 жыл бұрын
@@rowanlewisuk I didn't realise the mileage was so low, that's not even enough mileage for a timing belt change, yet the pump has had it already. Not good.
@rowanlewisuk5 жыл бұрын
@@Zerofightervi not good. Its had a timing chain since you mentioned it under warranty at 20k miles. It needs another. The box issues too. All at 50k. Evo life eh?
@Zerofightervi5 жыл бұрын
@@rowanlewisuk The timing belt on my old IV was surprisingly cheap, once I'd had the diff replaced, cracked exhaust valve replaced, new head gasket because why not at the point, suspension bushes done, new HKS silent hi-power exhaust system, driveshaft pulley, once all these were done...... it was actually a very reliable car. The best way to view an Evo is a highly strung race horse, it'll take some looking after but it's worth it for those foot down moments.
