This is my favorite tutorial. I have seen so many ways to make a roman shade but this technique gives you a great roman shade look without the complicated process of making them! I can't wait to make these for my large kitchen window and the french doors that are on the same wall as the large kitchen window! I'll post pics once I have them finished!

Really good, easy to follow demo. Thanks. Love the fabric. Can't wait to move home to dig out my sewing machine and make something! Have to settle for watching vids on KZbin for a little while longer.

Kamila: If by a more pleated look you mean you want more (narrower) pleats on your shade, just space the vertical rings more closely together than the 6" recommended here. You would not want to go closer than 4" between each ring, however. Hope that helps! Feel free to reply if we misunderstood the question.

Love this video & tutorial! I'm making stationary roman shade for a 60 inch window. Do I need dowels or a weighted bar? Most of the instructions I find are for very small windows and the wider window is not addressed. Thanks!

Cathy: The split rings are available on the RowleyDIY website: type "ring" in the search field and the split rings are on the second page of the search. Best of luck with your project.

What is the advantage of using the hook strip vs. the pocket? Wish I could see both completed so I can see how one looks vs. the other.

You could even use Roman shade cord and tie them together.

IF YOU CAN'T FIND SPLIT RINGS...Just buy a few extra solid rings and cut them with a pair of snips. They will do the exact same thing.
@kathygilbert1970Ай бұрын
Thank you!! The split rings I've bought are practically impossible to use. They're as tightly wound as key rings. I'll try your tip.

Could this technique be used for a relaxed Roman shade look?
@rowleycompany18 жыл бұрын
+Brenda Parker Absolutely. Instead of cutting a rectangle, cut a trapezoid (wider at the bottom than the top) to get a swag effect on the final shade.

How far apart are the rings vertically?
@Designsbydonnaatlanta2 жыл бұрын
Hello Karen. Thanks for watching the video! For this style shade valance, you may space the vertical rows of rings a pleasing distance for the size of folds you would like your shade to have. Typically this may be between 6-10". The further the distance between the vertical rows, the larger the folds of fabric.

What's the diameter of the split rings? Thanks
@rowleycompany110 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny - the inside diameter of the split rings in the video is 9/16". The outside diameter is 7/8". Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding this project. Thanks!

Split Rings can be found on our DIY site here - www.rowleydiy.com/DIY/DIYSplitRings.asp. I hope that helps! Feel free to call one of our Customer Experience Representatives for further assistance at 1-800-343-4542.

Just cut the solid rings with snips. They work just the same as "split rings" because you "split" them.
