Marie has an interesting story - very respected in Sweden across all levels, by artists and bands alike, Folk, punk, pop, metal - even the Swedish King released a statement on her death. I found out about her solo work when Opeth covered one of her songs. I think most outside of Sweden were completely unaware of how respected she was and only knew of her through Roxette.

Marie was one of the best female singers in my opinion. And she had a heart of gold. Sweden, where I live, was in grief when she passed. Would love to see some more of Roxette here! 😁

Roxette will forever have a special place in my heart. My youngest daughter is autistic and when she was younger listening to Roxette would always ease her distress. Long car journeys never took place without making sure we had a Roxette cd in the car to instantly dry up any tears. Even today she still loves them.

There was this American exchange student in Sweden who heard this song on the radio and loved it! He bought the single and brought it with him back to America. When he had returned home he went to the local radio station and suggested they play Roxette. They kept the single but never played it. The guy got a lil' irritated and when back to the station and said "you either play it or at least give me my single back!" The station gave in and played it and the response was overwhelming! Per (male half) had given up all ideas of make it outside Sweden so this success caught him completely off guard!

In class one day back in 10th grade, our teacher asked us to bring a "love" song to listen to the next day. Everyone brought in all the sappy sad mushy over the top songs or raunchy rap songs. I appeared with the song "the sweet hello the sad good bye" I got a lot of blank stares from people because I was famous for my heavy metal fan hood. They freaked out when they found out I loved and still love Roxette.

It's called a guilty pleasure Travis. As someone who was in their twenties when MTV started I've heard this song countless times. Another good one from them is "Joyride". Coming from someone who in their teens was listening to Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd and Queen to name a few.

First timer here. Love your reactions! "The Look" is a Top 50 all timer for me. I was 9 when "The Look" was released, and I still get that same high listening to it today. "The Look" is a perfect song. It captures the feeling of being alive at the end of the 80's better than most songs. Marie...what a talent. That outro. She owns it. Glad you two enjoyed it so much! Best wishes and continued success!

Great reaction, guys! 🤘Speaking of connecting with your child... My youngest daughter was a big fan of Twisted Sister when she was in kindergarten and in her first years in school. In 2016 I brought her with me to Sweden Rock Festival, where she got to see Twisted Sister. It was the last chance for her to see them live before they quit. She was 7 years old at the time and that look on her face... I still live on those memories. She's 12 now.. 😊

Back in 1986, when I was 16, my mom managed to convince a bar to let me in to see the British Invasion Tour (Gerry & the Pacemakers, Freddie & the Dreamers, The Searchers, Chad & Jeremy, and The Mindbenders). Drinking age here is 19, so the bar was actually risking their liquor license by letting me in. It was a great show, though, and I even got Marsden's autograph.
