Roxon Phantom S802 Multi-tool Shocking Results!

As some have mentioned with this being my first ever Roxon multi-tool I missed the locking system on the tool. This tool does lock. I plan to buy the updated version and give a fuller review in a month or so.

@@hvacbudget8600 No, I just tested the Phillips screwdriver, no problem. Obviously, ROXON, which makes good products and which innovates, would be well advised to increase the quality of the steels used quite to increase its prices.

I love my S802 even though it is imperfect. It is no longer in my EDC, because I want tough-as-nails tools there, like the Super Tool 300 and the Swiss Tool. But the fact that on the S802 I could swap in a utility knife holder, plus it comes with big scissors, were two factors that most multitools don't offer. Also, it doesn't cost a lot, compared to various other MTs. Regarding getting the shorter tools out, their lock button also does double duty because you can use it to push the short tools up (halfway raised) and then pick them out. One other tip about the S802 is that if the removable scales (for the knife exchange) ever come off in your pocket when you don't want them to, there is a mod that you can do: replace their lock levers with washers (1mm thick X 4mm hole DIA if I recall correctly) and disable the quick-change feature. I did that because I'm fine with the utility knife being ensconced as the knife choice (I like to carry a Cold Steel for my main knife anyway, but I also want a utility knife on me). Sorry for such a long comment but I just find this tool to be comment-worthy.

Pliers based multi tools are a gimmick. I now carry a Swiss Army knife and a pair of knipex needlenose combination pliers plus knipex water pump pliers . The performance of my knipex pliers makes My leatherman pliers look lie a child's toy by comparison . I also carry a picquic multi bit screwdriver. This kit totally out performs any leatherman available anywhere .

@@hvacbudget8600 I carry it for light duty stuff. If I want something that is going to be tough as nails and way more useful I’d go with another brand. Right now I’m running a retail store(small business) and this multi tool is great for just about all my needs there. It definitely is worth owning one for the price, in my opinion at least lol.

this way you'll screw up any screwdriver - just use the one that fits, if you use pz1 screwdriver on ph2 screw it'll break because it's different size, has different angles and overall shape

I got the updated version, and I gotta say, I have literally none of the issues I see on this video. The Phillips driver is actually a full square Phillips on mine, which also drives the included socket/bit set it comes with. The chisel has an integrated bottle opener, and the can opener has a single stripper notch. The scissors on mine have had absolutely no issues cutting whatsoever, and I've tested them on fine plastic, cloth, paracord, telephone wire (I'm a telephone technician) and no binding at all, so either it's a hit-or-miss situation, or they may have addressed some of the issues when they updated the tool. Also the lock button for the smaller tools does function as a forward-assist to extract the smaller tools when pressed in the opposite direction of the lock disengagement. Hope this helps.

There is an upgraded model now. I did rereview this model and I feel more positive about it. There are definitely better multi tools out there but it does have a modularity that is almost non-existent in the multi tool world.

The more I see of Roxon the less I am impressed with their tools. I might pick up their knife/scissors tool as those scissors are still quite appealing to me.

I wish they’d make that model with the replaceable blades. I appreciate their innovation, but the metal quality is definitely sub-par on these Chinese brands. Perhaps that will change (China’s been producing good-quality pocket knives for a while now).

Perhaps this is with the newer S802S version, but it does come with a set of bits. For me, the innovation alone was enough to “pull the trigger,” so to speak, and purchase the tool. For my needs - and budget - I’m satisfied with the tool set and performance. I think folks are expecting luxury performance from a budget tool. 🤷🏾‍♂️

No, but I like the fit and feel of it more so than the Multiforce and the swappable blades - well, that's just too awesome! Yep, I think I stick with the Phantom for a bit. Now to get my hands on those additional blades!

I suggest you read the manual first. :-) The easy way to open the tools along with the screwdriver, is by sliding the knob on the handle.

actually, the lever you tried to unlock the saw is used to access and unlock the other tools. Push up to access them (lifts them above the tool for much easier access and push down to unlock after opening.

I bought 3 Leatherman REVs for $7 each at Home Depot. Watch big box stores. When they have to swap out inventory, the product that doesn't sell goes on clearance, then pennied out and thrown away. They take a write off for the loss. At a $7 price point, and at its small size, my Rev has become my favorite multi-tool to carry.

The price is £50 here in the UK, same as the Leatherman Rev and Bond, & Gerber Suspension. Personally I'd opt for the Bond despite it having less tools. Otherwise a little bit cheaper at £42 is the Nextool Flagship Pro which has scissors and saw and as far as I can see has all round good reviews, my Nextool Flagship Mini is actually better in most respects than my Leatherman Squirt PS4 which cost 3x as much. As it happens my £50 full-size multitool is the Rebar, I was lucky to get this on sale.

You would love the larger Super Tool 300 too. Here in the states I can get a nice slightly used Super Tool for about $60. That's $30 to $40 off retail. It has become my favorite EDC in the month, I've had it. I don't know your specific laws but if you can have one for around the house, look for one. They're not chunky and overly large like many claim. I find it a nice size and like the Rebar, very handy. I love Leatherman, well worth the money.

@@richardsullivan1776 I can have it around the house or even carry it ''with valid reason'' in public, like if I was taking it to work, I've done that with my Rebar in a bike repair kit, I figure it wouldn't matter as when I go to work I'm carrying a roll of lethally sharp 8 inch chef's knives too, I work in a restaurant part -time. But here I'd be looking at paying $125 for a Super Tool 300 if I was lucky so not much point, there isn't really much of a used market here, for example ebay in the UK have a no knives policy, and the few and far between ones you find on other sites tend not to be much cheaper than the new price. If I were looking for a larger ''non-legal'' multitool in that price bracket I think I'd get a Swisstool X to be honest, I've only heard good things about them and I don't yet own a Victorinox multitool - but plenty of SAKs. I know the Supertool is good though, it's basically a scaled up Rebar.

You got it wrong on the small tools. You have to activate the little lever to access all those tools and then pick the one you want to use. Dont make a misleading video if you havent explored the product yet.

At the time I did not see the locking lever on the tool. Since then I have found there is an updated version of this tool which I plan to review in the next months including info on the locking tools.

Thank you, I finally made up my mind. It's a no for me. I was on the edge because I love the design of the scissors. But... interchangeable blades, and no interchangeable screwdriver bits? Practically no screwdriver as you just showed. That is a big miss. And the materials are just not up to par. I'd rather pay more for quality.

I hope I just got a bad one but I really think there are so many other options. I'm testing out the Nextool adjustable wrench and plier multi tool right now and should have a review out by next week. Of course the Gerber Center Drive used is a great value and there are so many Leathermans or even Bibury or Fissar.

Hmmm!🤔 Roxon kinda messed up some good engineering with substandard materials. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just like with NexTool, I have a Roxon somewhere, but I’ll be danged if know where it is. I got it off of Amazon for those large, fold-out scissors. It just looked interesting.

Very similar to the Sunbird but instead of a Philips driver and Flat head it has a wood saw, secondary serrated blade and bottle/ can opener. I order myself one too, I really like the concept. I carried it on my belt for 2 days before y decided to just keep in on my car, definitely too heavy to carry on your person all day, a pair of knipex mini plyiers and a Victorinox hunsman did it for me
