Welcome! I feel your pain...I have too many projects I haven't finished. I'm glad you've been reinvigorated. It was a very fun project and although it ended up taking me longer to finish I'm glad I did. ☺️

Thank you. Yes. This was the first slow stitching project I ever participated in and I know they've done several since then. I highly recommend following along with one of their projects. I had so much fun learning from them. 🥰

Your book is lovely and well thought out. I did the project also and loved it. I also found Anne Brooks and did a little of the Sew 4 Your Soul book. And I bought some tags to do that one as well. I am hooked on the slow stitching movement. The projects people are doing are so beautiful and inspiring. Love your work. It's beautiful!

I did the Anne Brooke 52tagshannemade challenge! It got me back to stitching. Struggled on a few but I completed the whole 52 weeks only a few weeks late. Your book is one of the best I have seen. I followed your progress previously. Hope you keep posting your progress with all of your new projects!🤗

Thank you Sue! Congratulations on finishing the 52 tags. I'm getting a late start to getting them done this year but hoping I'll do more than one a week. Thanks for following along and I do plan to share my slow stitching as I have things to show. ☺️

Gorgeous! I have all my blocks completed for volume 1 but haven't had a chance to put the book together yet! Your book inspires me to get it finished! I also have a lot of my Christmas blocks done but have not completed all of them yet. I laid out my Down a Garden Gate idea as a wall hanging but haven't got any further as I am trying to finish up the Christmas stitchery 1st. I figure I can just work on it at my own pace.

@heartandsoulfuldesign Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! It's basically like cheesecloth. The first few batches I bought were called scrim so that has stuck with me. But the last time I purchased it was called cheesecloth. Here's a link: amzn.to/3ZgmDlx 🥰

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EMBROIDERY, MACHINE STITCHING, AND SLOW STITCHING?
@heartandsoulfuldesign Жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert so I can only give my opinion. I would leave machine stitching out of the comparison first because it's done with a machine and not by hand so the outcome would be consistent. The stitches in embroidery and slow stitch are the same, in my opinion. However, with embroidery you use a hoop and the goal is usually precision and nice even stitches. With slow stitching, you normally do not use a hoop and just hold the piece in your hands. You also don't worry about perfection and the result is a much more hand crafted look. The other main difference, for me, is that slow stitching involves a larger variety of materials, threads and embellishments. I think of embroidery as careful stitching on one fabric to create a beautiful textile artwork. I think of slow stitching as more of a mix media collage using layers of different fabrics to create backgrounds, then different stitching using a variety of threads for texture and incorporating other elements like metals, buttons, beads, and even paper and natural elements like twigs and such to create lots of texture and interest. I hope this explanation from my point of view is helpful. 🥰
