Can't believe Roy is still so overlooked to this day. He was an absolute expressive genius. Thanks for breaking down his signature techniques.

So glad you focused on Roy...for me it wasnt just technique but that personal emotion he put into his songs....from a cascade of sounds from his single Telecaster to beautiful tonal music of Dual Soliloquy

I love Roy. You taught me much as a non-guitar player. I can appreciate Roy's magical sounds better. Roy...music heard so deeply Roy WAS the music.

Thanks Mike, thats so cool to hear that this video helped you understand Roy as a guitar player. Maybe you should start playing? Roy was magic,

That first technique is brilliant, I tried it last night and the faster I got it ended up not sounding like each note was stopped as I was essentially just fast picking up and down... I guess the magic comes out within the ascending and descending speeds. Great video bro, thankyou. You've got the Buchananisms down nicely!

@@LeadGuitarWorkshop an American professional. It is butterscotch blonde and a long time object of obsession for me! It is an adjustment because my playing has been so conditioned to p90 and humbucker sounds. It has a feel and character distinct to the strat as well. Trying to find my way with it. It’s a very well built guitar. Danny Gatton is a super freak.
@alexbostelle287

...and demonstrating on a" strat" is professionally flexible of you👍... in a interview he said he would play different guitars but always was drawn to the "Tele" the 3rd technique I call a" rake", 2nd a squint , the 1st you shared is one to add to the dictionary I've been incorporating into my playing and practice a device called an "enclosure". Start middle finger on 4th string 5th fret, pic once the g note , hammer on sequentially from the g ,g#,g,f#,g all legato. It's like a musical spring board , or launching pad to another decisive run or lick

I remember when I heard about what what he did I was at work and I heard it on the radio and I couldn't believe it. I wonder about his Tele and hope it's where he would have it be. IMO it's the most iconic Telecaster I can think of. I think I was 14 when Loading Zone came out. Dammit man

Good eye, the neck and middle I bought from Joe Barden himself back in 1992 after I saw Danny Gatton at a clinic and he said they were the best pickups on the planet. I sat 10 feet in front of him for an hour w a vibroverb and his tele just killin it. The bridge I bought about 5 years ago.

That story was complete bullshit because no one in the stones has ever talked about that or brought it up. About the only time keith richards ever brought up roy was when he talked about him, clapton, and ronnie wood pissing in his beer at a recording session because roy was being a asshole.
