Massive Keane fan. Has winning mentality was unbelievable. He had a way to get the most out of every player. His professionalism was second to none. I’d rate him way better than Robson. As for most “influential” player , it’s got to be Cantona.
@adrianmarrinan77074 жыл бұрын
100% the most influential player ive seen. Obviously there have been some better footballers, Cantona and Robson mentioned here. Cantona a different type of player and leader, Robson maybe similar to Keane but nowhere near as influential. Loved Robbo as well but didnt have that same influence on teammates. As the lads said in the video as well, the standards were set in training.....standards long forgotten now!

@incogneto Robbo was great, but not as influential as Keane. Robbo often had to do everything by himself, Keane wouldn't have stood for that... He'd have been ripping his teammates to shreds.

I remember the day he left United. I was a student in Galway at the time and the news had just broken whilst I was on a bus heading back home for the weekend. This is before the era of smart phones so the bus driver pulled over and told everyone over the speaker that “Roy Keane has left Man United”...there were gasps and looks of shock / confusion from everyone (young kids, grandmothers, students)! The bus driver sat there for a minute or so in quiet reflection before pulling off again. It demonstrates the aura the man had - we all felt he was invincible at the time, despite the injuries and entering the twilight of his career.

It was a complete shock and came out of nowhere, most people thought Keane, as club captain, had another 2 to 3 years in him and those would be spent at United. I don't think Roy Keane has the ability to stop whats on his mind coming out of his mouth whether he'd like to say it or not. He's a family orientated, dog loving, funny and loyal decent human being but once a football catches his vision then whoever kicked it and triggered his senses better be certain its a forward pass that gets to a teammate or a goal or he'll fire fucks into them and drive them into the ground like a tent peg. His reaction to De Gea and Maguire live on Sky Sports 16 years after leaving the club threatening to swing punches at them and kick them from the team bus in the middle of London indicates he's still completely as insane once a football is spotted as he was back then at United. Gary Neville apparently ran out of the studio down the tunnel and zipped himself up the kit bag wrapped up in pile of sweaty socks as he used to always do when Keanes face dropped a little and a tint of redness started to appear on his face. Micah Richards isn't even there as a pundit, he's a paid bodyguard to protect the other pundits from being attacked by Roy Keane if he sees Pogba not tracking back. Evra was that concerned he offered to drive De Gea and Maguire home in a high powered Supercar up the M6 with Roy Keane chasing on foot kicking lumps out of the bodywork and trying to stab out the tyres with studs up slide tackles the whole way. Its a good job Keane was mid 40s and unfit and had ran out of energy near Stoke or they'd both be dead and Evra too for aiding their getaway. Keanos passion should be bottled and injected into the lazy bums in the dole queue. Unemployment would end by the next morning guaranteed.

I thought he was a world-class player, his passing, first-touch, positional play and reading of the game was outstanding. Let me tell you a story about Roy Keane, a friend of my uncle played semi pro in the League of Ireland for Dundalk. Towards the end of his career he was playing against a team called Cobh Ramblers. On the Cobh team that day was a young lad of about 17 called Roy Keane. Word had got out that this young lad was good so my uncles friend decided to hit him early and let him know he was in a man's game. An opportunity presented itself so he hit Keane with a tackle as hard as he could. Both went to ground. My uncles friend got up expecting to get the ball and leave Keane in a heap, however the ball and Keane were already 20 yards away. He said in all his years playing football Keane, at 17, was the hardest player he ever played against.

Roy Keane would be perfect signing in current United side. Roy would make others give their all and help improve them. Plus he was a complete winner.. no stupid excuse interviews. He said how it was and walked the talk. Great player

@@declanobrien1283 In your opinion. I was at every game so I'll make my own judgement. Ireland had alot of very good players. Not sure what your definition of carry is.
@declanobrien12834 жыл бұрын
@@niallglennon83 He was simply the best performer, they may well have had a lot of very good players he was undoubtedly the standout. He was the most professional player in the team and their best player who dragged them to that world cup.

@@declanobrien1283 never said he wasnt the best player. But "carrying" is a different matter. He didnt even play the 2nd leg of the playoff for a start.

Excellent video. Roy and myself are from the same city (Cork). Best captain ever. Best midfield line ever. Would have loved the opportunity to see Becks and Ronaldo play in the same team at United. Becks on the right Ronaldo on the left unstoppable 👍🏼

The complete midfielder with a V8 engine. People forget that he came to United as a marauding, 'Frank Lampard' type of number 8 who specialized on arriving in the box at the right time. He was all that and more for us at United. At United, he was able to develop his all round game and he trained and played with winners. Just because he didn't tend to play the defence splitting pass or the 50 yard Hollywood pass, didn't mean that he couldn't. He and the gaffer just knew that giving it to Scholes or Beckham would ensure a better chance of success. He rarely had a bad game at United. He was remarkable; first as an 8, then as a 6.

Great video lads and good to see the thoughts from the class of 92 legends on the best captain we have ever had. When we had a midfield of Keane and Scholes in the centre of the park you knew they would always give it their all and get stuck in. Natural born leader. I remember the incident in the tunnel at Highbury when he had a go at Patrick Viera. He didn’t care how big they were. Nobody was messing with his teammates.

I wore his jersey number and I was captain of my school team, I modelled my game like him. I never gave up even if I was dying on the pitch and never gave up when my team was losing. It was all because of him and only him. He is my Captain of all time, Roy Keane.

Fellow Corkonian, die hard Liverpool supporter.. ha ha… I watched the game in a bar on MacCurtain St… it was incredible.. there were only a few people in the place, the reaction by Mr Keane was a pure example of what all spiritual traditions describe as selflessness.
