The 125 - 200cc size engine is about where it should be for this classic Lambrettaesque type of scooter .They were designed for cheap transport & to handle city traffic with their small wheels .The closed in body were so people could wear normal city clothes & step thru to make them more assessable for ladies .I find these classic type of scooters ok for speeds of around 60mph for the odd faster suburban road .If I was to chose a scooter with a larger size engine I would chose a modern style maxi that were designed with larger wheels for larger engines than 200cc that are better handling at speeds up past 60 mph to speeds exceeding 100 mph .There is one thing I noticed about these ,Royal Alloys is the panels are a bit of a fapp to remove . Come to think of it the old Lambretta needed easy off panels as they often conked out at the roadside .Hopefully for the scooter mods who buy the Royal Alloy they won’t have those problems with modern 4 stroke auto motors .Another good ride out & review Mr Rev Bomb 👍

Love mine although its the watercooled GP125S, fast acceleration and indicated 70 mph flat out and I get 93 mpg on runs. I agree the mirrors could be better but the handling, braking and lights are superb compared to my Lambretta. No problems to report more impressed than I could have dreamed.

Would be tempted with the watercooled version. Just a little more umph goes a long way with them 125's. Stunning looking bikes!!!!

Just bought one , be ready to collect soon. My CBT is next Friday . I’m very nervous once I get on the road. When I sat on it I felt very high and I just about touched the floor. Only being 5ft 6 it makes me more nervous. I rode a Vespa 50 40 years ago .

I am thinking about a GP125 but would you say the performance of the LC engine gives a significant improvement over the air cooled engine?

Lc 125 is a lot better for long distance

@@RevBombUK I am thinking more about performance on hills. We live in a hilly area and having had a Suzuki VanVan which struggled on the hills, I was wondering whether the LC engine would provide more power to cope.

100% go LC, it’s quite a jump up in performance. Plus the 200 top end fits if you want more later 👍 AC’s really don’t like hills (this can be improved though) LC’s do 60 comfortably. The AC’s struggle above 50. Well they struggle above 45 to be fair. The AC’s are pretty slow stock

I’m after one of these was looking at old lambrettas Vespas but chances are they will be unreliable not like these! ,I like the fact the bikes are based on 1960s scooters this is what’s making me purchase one!

It’s a shame there’s only one model available in the States. It’s badged as a GT but has the metal body of the GP series and it’s an a/c 150cc w/ carb instead of FI. ... I bought one anyway. 🙂

I wondered why so many scooters, then it hit me, over there loads of adults ride them. Over here in my area of Canada mostly only kids ride them. Scooter squadrons lol, not unusual to come across packs of 10-15 riding together. 14-16 yr olds getting about till they get their car license. Mostly 49CC. Cheers pal! 🥓✌🏼
