Cam, I literally came across your videos and WOW! Did this blow me away with such energy, care and above all goodness to our dogs! I have just lost my beloved and best friend on Earth, my 8.3 year old Clément which was my Airedale Terrier after some idiot decided to place rat and rabbit poison at a god park. I am utterly heartbroken and devastated to say the least. I will be getting a puppy soon and it will be a Kerry Blue Terrier and yes, I will be certain to follow your delicious recipes. Thank God for finding your shop as somehow it made me feel hopeful. Thank a million, Jean-Claude from Melbourne, Australia. 🎉❤

Hey. All thing you suggest sounds very good if you live in house in one place. We are travelers, with a tiny fridge and micro freezer in it. What food would you suggest in our case? Have an aussie puppy atm and soon we will need to switch to adult feeding.

My dog has been put on this because it contains hydrolyzed proteins because he has Immune Mediated Polyarthritis. Be interested to know what Cam thinks would be a good alternative? There is little else on the market that contains hydrolyzed protein.
@treasuretrovel38166 ай бұрын
I would bet that your dog got the autoimmune disease from excess vaccines. Hills Z/d killed my dog-- I only used the hydrolyzed stuff for a few days once or twice a year when she had a GI issue. Otherwise, I was able to keep her healthy on an all fresh, balanced, homemade diet. Anyway, so since I was only using the Z/d sparingly I was not worried that it would ruin her nutrition and microbiome. But, even though her kidney enzymes were perfect several months prior, they shot through the roof. I had been using the Z/d that week and they later recalled for toxic amounts of vitamin D causing kidney damage. I can't prove this was the cause but I know it is so. I did not hav the cans with the lot numbers and it is not the case that they usually recall all the bad stuff anyway. The moral of the story in my opinion is that feeding Hills or any of these other big brands is too risky. So, I would recommend buying digestive enzymes from Bark and Whiskers (the kind for fresh food. I would purchase 7% fat, grass fed, Eel River ground beef. It is finely ground. I would leave it raw at room temp mixed with a scoop of the enzyme blend. For even more serious digestion you could add a few tsp of apple cider vinegar, let it sit for 30 minutes until it turns whitish, neutralize the acid by adding water and a calcium supplement and then add the digestive enzymes for another half hour. Lot of work so probably not doable longterm but the goal would be to heal the GI tract so it is no longer leaky and reacting to various proteins.

My adopted 7-year-old (give or take) dog has been on Royal Canin Hypoallergenic since October last year due to inflammatory bowel disease (prescribed by a gastroenterologist vet). We chose to feed him 4 times a day so he wouldn't be empty stomach for many hours in a row. Well, the ultrasound from 4 days ago showed no improvement in the IBD, and revealed an inflammatory gastritis (which he didn't have). He has constant acid reflux (mainly during the night) and sometimes he vomits in the morning. Then I read the label..... If I ate so much fat and carbs I would myself develop gastritis. We have a vet nutritionist appointment for tomorrow. There's no way he'll get healthy eating dog food.
@b.g.tercero235124 күн бұрын
Give your dog nothing but meat and water and only ONE meal per day. The dog will be hungry when it's finally time to eat, which makes him far less picky which can be a problem transitioning away from dry food which he may prefer. The less cooked the meat is the better. The meat should include fat/gristle and once a week or so liver or other organs. Your vet has nothing to offer but harmful medications and bills. You don't have to worry about portion control, let him eat as much meat as he wants but only one meal per day.

we don't all have the time to make home made meals for our dogs and it has been suggested that I try a hypoallergenic food for my cocker spaniel who has regular yeast and ear infections with spots on his tummy and crusty eyes so I feel like I am entering a mine field with all of the conflicting info out there as to what is best!
@shaddapforever4 ай бұрын
I have just started with home cooking for my 2 shih tzu's. It's not that bad if you cook in batches that will provide you with food for your Cocker Spaniel for 3 - 4 days. If I were you, I would start by trying to find out which food is triggering the reactions. For me it turned out the be chicken that I need to avoid. ( if you want to keep the food for over 5 days, it is best to start freezing it until needed) And dont overthink it too much, it is much easier than what you are thinking right now. Get some lean ground beef or pork, a bit of liver, crush in half an eggshell and add some sardines or mackerel with some of their fav veggies such as kale, carrots or beans. And take it from there. You can do this!
@megancolosimo14792 ай бұрын

@shaddapforever2 ай бұрын
@@megancolosimo1479 got lucky while observing. If you live in a country where vet bills are reasonable. You might just shell out some money for allergy tests. Its sometimes easier. If vet bills are sky high though, Google top 10 allergies for your breed and take it from there.

@@thedognutritionist Incidentally, what do you think of Pure? They keep advertising and they look good... I had problems with my dog when I was in Germany working on an army base (some kind/thoughtful person left poisonous sausage treats in the parks). I took him to 3 vets, and they all recommended I 'kill him'... German translation wasn't very good. Anyway, I searched high and low for a good vet, and eventually the cleaner recommended Joe Bodemann (he trains animals for television and film). Joe sat and watched my dog for half an hour before deciding what to do. Then gave him an injection of Vit B12 into his spine and he sprang to life. I left my dog in Joe's dog hospital (it was fantastic - own rooms with sofas and beds and own blankets and bowls) for a week. Then he recommended that I change my dog's diet. I started to change my dog's diet - I bought massive beef livers, turky legs/breasts and lamb legs, boiled them up and boiled fresh vegetables too. Liquidised them, tubbed them up and froze them. After 2 months, he was back to the original fun, runaround dog he had been as a pup. Couldn't believe it. I did do vidoes, but KZbin deleted them (reason, violated music content!). Buddy went to sleep in 2016 at the grand old age of 17. I still well up when I think about it. Anyway, I do see the value in PROPER food for dogs. So, thanks for all you do.

I totally get what you are saying BUT when your dogs gut is in a certain state/overdrive, every protein is showing a reaction! Even if you use this food temporarily to purly try to stable the gut. My dog has suspected IBD and is in constant discomfort and is reacting to pretty much every protein! It’s awful! If these types of foods can give some form of comfort temporarily, just until things calm down within the guy. That’s my only thing with these diets….
