We have tried Spot and Tango unkibble and are now currently on Ollie half fresh half baked. While Spot and Tango isn’t as expensive it’s shipping and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. A very common complaint is that people are often short on food before the next shipment and it takes like 5 days for it to arrive and they can only be reached by text or email and takes forever to get back to you. With Ollie when it ships it arrives at my door the very next day

I raised dogs since the 90’s. Then I was feeding my dogs nothing but pedigree dry and can. I was young and didn’t have much funds then. And guess what they never had any issues. Fast forward to 2010. All my dogs started having skin issues. Spent a ton of money going to vets. They didn’t help. Tried all the premium pricy dog food. That didn’t help. I tried home cook meals. That didn’t help. I came to conclusion that it’s the environment. When I’m in the city and take the dogs to city parks they would have bad allergic reactions. So I would have to bath them almost everyday. But when I don’t have to be in the city and I’m living in a rural town with very low vehicle and human traffic the dogs are fine. Im able to let them roam free without worries of allergic reactions. I feel city environment is just dirty and filled with disease. I used to think it had to do with the food. Now I just feed them cooked chicken and veggies. Turn out to be cheaper than buying high end kibbles and freeze dry meat. And they inhale it like they been starved.

Hi I have kind of an odd question. One of my dogs has gotten a blood-borne tick disease and they’re wanting to put him on antibiotics for a year. The first one was pills and they made his stomach sick. Anything he associated with that sickness he wouldn’t eat again, which made it very difficult to give it to him so I had to stop it ,now they’ve given me a liquid form syringe he’s afraid of the syringe. I’ve had my Laponian Herder on Carna4 for about a year and a half now (he’s almost 3yo) and he is absolutely thriving on it. So much so that I’ve had people stop their cars, roll down their window and yell “that’s a beautiful dog” at me while walking him. I almost wish I was lying because it’s kinda weird but it could be worse. He’s been holding a steady weight of 57lbs +/- a pound or two on 3 cups split into two feeds a day. His outer coat is like silk to the point that even burrs tent to not stick to him unless he really presses into them hard enough to work them into his undercoat. Even his vet commented on him essentially being in ideal condition physically, he’s adamantly opposed to getting needles requiring a muzzle to get those done but I’m working on that, but he couldn’t be doing better when it comes to diet. Carna4 is hands down the best kibble I’ve ever had a dog on. It is however quite costly. I’m at about $150-$175 CND per month and his bowl movements are a little on the soft side. Adding a high quality mixer or topper has significantly improved that however. Really can’t recommend this kibble enough.

I'm trying to transition to half Stella and chewys free range raw blend / half cooked food (similar to what you make). I was only doing homemade but realized he was missing out on nutrition and saw that S&C also added joint supplements to their food. The third day he threw it up so I would advise going super slow with any transition you make just based on this experience. Also the bigger the bag the cheaper it is. If this works out I will probably get a bigger bag and put half in a separate container to stay fresh.

Orijen doesn’t add synthetics either . Also Canadian . Interesting because they say they don’t use extrusion in the same way other dog foods do and cook at low temps. The ingredients is whole meats. I’m feeding the large puppy kibble. They had to go beyond Canadian sourced meat though due to becoming a larger company . And there’s no synthetic vitamins . Only thing is they use lentils. That’s the only thing I’m still not totally keen on. Why don’t you like Origen ? I do want to add more balance to my pups diet. How can I get her to like berries? She spat out blueberries when I tried it. Turned up her nose at the piece of bell pepper I tried with her.

I can only recommend farmers markets and cooking fresh about 10kg at a time. A good kibble is about $20-30 /kg which is A LOT. Get yourself a small freezer, used as low as $50bucks, chest freezers are most efficient and cheap. Buy beef, pork, guts from a local butcher or farmers market. As well as pumpkin, kobocha, carrots, rice, yellow potatoes, sweet potato, corn, eggs and broccoli. Put it all through a coarse grinder and you end up with roughly $12/Kg (CAD) of PREMIUM food that has everything your dog needs. Boil bones and bone marrow and add that. COSTCO sells small plastic containers $25 for 200pcs you can portion UP TO two meals into and reuse quite a few times. Plus you can use the freezer for your own foods. Most kibble is crap or toooo expensive. Cheapest best food is home cooked. You can even eat it yourself in a pinch. Stores for 1year easy. Because it's wet food, it's already easy to put into a long or press into a slow feeder. Your dog will have great poop from all the fat and no cancer because of no added sugars or reaction to legumes.

He was using farmina grain free, but seems to have a reaction to something in it, so we’re going to try the ancient grains farmina without the use of peas and then throw on some raw meat on top.

I have a question. I am looking for a good quality, kibble for my small breed breeding dogs. I would love to feed them the ones you suggest I. This video, but I just do t have the budget to feed 7 dogs those brands at those prices. I am looking for a food to feed the adults when they are not pregnant, and also a high quality puppy food to feed them when they are pregnant and for their puppies to eat when they are weaned.
