Thanks so much for this video. You make great content and you're very much underappreciated for the quality of content you put out. This really helped me get into the game and is helping me on this particular playthrough in particular. Thanks again and I hope you come back to the game and make more content when Troy rereleases on steam.

I strongly recommend that for the basic reform where it provides a fixed amount of each of the 5 resources, it also gives an additional amount in regards to what resource province you control. For example like gold where the reform gives +20 gold per turn, it should give an additional +5 for every gold producing province you control so on and so forth for the rest. That should allow players to plan their conquest much more strategically, rather then just overextending due to the need of some factions that are more of a "Tall" focused playstyle.

Good breakdown. On your point about how much favour a priestess can generate then in my campaign with stacking the favour skills I am getting 39 favour on a critical success rather than the 20-26 you mentioned.

Good breakdown. For me personally wood and not gold seems to be the most valuable resource in the game. I am the type of player who would constantly use up my resources for buildings, and the more I expand the more I sink more resources into building the infrastructure of my provinces. In this game wood is needed for everything you can build so I run out of it very quickly and ended up having to do barter agreements to get more. It's no wonder I could trade 1 wood for 500 food for several turns.

without watchin this video yet, i bet serioustrivia would say to snap research the 1st wood decree, since givin extra 100 wood or something for free just makes such a difference just bein able to have enough wood to build shit

In my current campaign I still haven’t gone down the wood decrees at all. I feel like if you are not playing as Odysseus or Paris the wood decrees are really not that helpful.

The 10 percent upkeep reduction tech is worth beelining every campaign. All of these really simple flat percentage techs are not really interesting. I wish that total war had a real logistics system instead of the “baggage train” mechanic. I imagine it as an actual baggage train that follows your army around consisting of caravans, specialists like engineers, medics, that could be managed in interesting ways to solve problems that your army would run into. Logistics is really what wins or loses wars and I think there are many ways they could make it better. Another thought - scouting parties tied to each army, creating a more realistic fog of war. I’ve wanted both of these things since Rome 2.

great guide.. will you do a guide for religion? especially for the special unit, since we can't see their information in game (like how many Sparthoi (?) we can recruit, is it easy to find a suitable place, are they more or less interchangeable with other units?). Also, Zeus's tier 2 will grant a special trail for your agents (Messenger of thunder or something), as well as a special trail (Son of Zeus) for your generals. What're these traits? i want to beeline to get tier 2 with Zeus, but it will cost a lot, and I don't know enough about the reward to invest.

Troy guides will be a bit slow especially with the furious wild dlc preview window but I will continue to work on them. I think the province building guide is likely next then I will definitely cover divine favor and all the special units.

The unique units like Minotaur, Spartoi etc. have a limit of 1. There are some unique places on the map where they are given as garrison. The bonus that Zeus gives your generals is really good (extra attack, defense and morale and other stuff, don't really remember exactly). You can also give this trait to your main Hero by swaping him with another hero so that he returns to the recruitment pool. You can also use the prayer to Zeus to gain a lot of resources and pay back the investment through diplomacy. Just keep some deals ready before. Zeus is always a good pick. The temple adds 10 favor per temple per hecatombe and extra influence. I would build 3 temples for each god I worship with the priestesses then (including or as extra) a temple of Athena for recruiting my generals in that region. (including or as extra) a temple of Ares or Athena for where I recruit my units (depends on the campaign and the faction's playstyle). (including or as extra) a temple of Apollo to recruit agents. The rest are temples of Zeus for the sweet bonuses. If my economy permits it I also have a level one temple that I can swap between gods for favor. This permits max favor for all gods in the late game, recruiting high level agents and generals (once you researched the extra levels for them it's even better, they are around lvl 13) and recruiting the best possible armies.

The Zeus traits for agents and heroes are very good. The agent trait "Messenger of Thunder" gives the following; -20% action cost -10% chance for enemy action on this agent +15% movement range its the same trait for each type of agent. The hero trait Descendant of Zeus has some variety dependant on whether the hero has a ranged attack or not. Ranged hero gives +10% speed +10% range +5% damage +6 melee defence Melee hero +10% speed +10 melee attack +4 damage +6 melee defence. Choosing Apollo as you first god and then using the Seer you get at max level to instantly boost Zeus (make sure you have a Zeus temple built in the settlement you use the seer on) looks like a good strategy. You will get another seer every 8 turns so you can use them to boost the other gods as well. With the decree bonuses, three priestesses properly spec'ed to generate favour, a seer every 8 turns and the hecatomb every 5 turns then its possible to keep all gods near max levels.

So which damn buildings actually increase the administration efficiency? The total war help pages really suck, i cant find any info on it.

560 food per turn is by far not enough for an extra army in the late game (and paying 400 gold is only interesting once you have a good economy). Count for around 3000 food upkeep per army later on when you have several stacks with elite units. But 560 is still useful. The problem being that every new army adds around 30% to all upkeep cost, which makes upkeep explode once you have a large empire with armies here and there (there are some buildings helping with the upkeep but the armies will have to be in the region). Doesn't destroying a temple make you loose favor with the god ? I happened to destroy a temple and lose the favor level at the same time. I did my conclusions without really testing it out. Otherwise swapping the first level temple for 120 gold is viable in late game even if expensive. (Equivalent to 60 gold per turn to keep 2-3 gods at max favor). Early game I would say wood is the most important. Mid game, still wood and stone. Late game it's food. Bronze is easy to get and accumulates easily. It has high value and can be traded for things you need. But always keep some. Gold is always needed. That's how I see things.

@Daniel Byrne I haven't played Agamemnon yet, but the % increase affects the upkeep of each unit, independent of your income. Doesn't the lion share mechanic only give you resources ? But, yes, the AI's armies you vassal fields can be ordered around to a certain extend, too, which increases your fighting strength.
@FS-mi9sn4 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Byrne yeah, it's one of the biggest problems in the game. It restricts your gamestyle, you can't have several small armies that just suffice to defend certain locations.

Destroying your temple will make you LOSE favor with the god of that temple so be wary. (so is transfering city of that temple to your ally)
