I have an Interceptor 650 bought in march 2020. I have a daily commute of around 60-70 kms. Mostly Highways. Amazing bike for these conditions. Just a few tweaks and you're ready to go for a long trip: A plusher seat, handlebar raisers(aftermarket) and panniers/saddlebags. And yous should be aware that being spoke rimmed, the tires have tubes. So, if possible, learn to fix a puncture or try one of those aftermarket tubeless conversion kits just for your peace of mind. You do get 1 year of RE Road side assistance free with the bike. But, I've heard that they take a long time to arrive. Considering these issues, would I buy this bike again? In a heartbeat because of that engine. It won't give you any trouble except when you want it to and that lovely crackle and pop sound when it gets going. As the guy in the video said, people look at it a lot wherever you go. Till now, I haven't been for a long trip with it yet. But, will do it as soon as lockdown is lifted.

I'm able to buy ANY motorcycle I want but... I bought the interceptor based on it's reported qualities and because it's the best looking thing I've ever seen. Styling perfection. The only downside is what I call the 50 miles duration seat.

That is true Burt, the seat on the Interceptor is even worse than the one on GT. Although we found GT also requires a seat upgrade for longer rides.

Clarification: All Royal Enfield bikes are made in India. The 650 was developed and designed in UK but made in India. To best of our knowledge RE doesn’t have any factory outside India, only an R&D centre in UK.

These reflectors were bought from Triumph showroom but we think now RE is selling the 650 with these so you should be able to get from RE also.

Nice review, thank you. For the money it is a best value bike here in US only $6000. I am still trying to decide between Interceptor and GT model....tough choice. GT looks much more sexier but riding position a little too aggressive and might not be comfy for longer rides.

I'm using gt since 8 months . It's a gem from royal Enfield. The style of seating is marvelous. Instant pickup which will beat any bike in signals .that's make me proud. Royally iam the owner of royalenfield .only thing I made mistake of coour .I bought ice queen .dr mayhem is even better

Hi, I think Interceptor 650 will be better for long distance touring but if you like the styling of GT then you can get the Interceptor’s handlebar and also get Royal Enfield’s Touring seat. I am unaware of any wobbling issues in case of handlebar replacement. Cheers Nitin

Hi man nice bike , i have interceptor myself. Now try to put my sump guard & crash guard like yours. Do you find hard to fit in sump guard+compact engine/crash guard. There is no bolt coming in the sump guard kit, this is for bottom engine cradle. The option is using flange bolt coming with the crash guard. My bolt that I have inside the crash kit if I put all together the excess thread that coming out is tight just like 2/3 mm . Did you found the same ? I still try to figured it out to put all of this together. Mind to share your experience? Thanks !

Motorcycles like GT can be very subjective for some people because of their sporty riding position. Generally saying it will be tiring for everyone on a 30 km ride is very incorrect. I have ridden GT a lot for days on longer rides and didn’t feel uncomfortable that I would hate it but on the other hand a friend finds it extreme... so it is not as simple... Take multiple test rides, try and find out urself how u feel... My opinion is both are can be equally good for a 100 km ride but yes by default, Interceptor is more comfortable. Cheers Nitin

Hi Pratik, since the chassis is same it is possible. However there are other factors that one may consider. Like the foot pegs on the GT are slightly more rear-set, which i personally prefer and other thing is the cost. Fuel tank is more expensive although I have not checked the cost of replacing handlebar and the top T clamp etc. I guess if one already owns an Interceptor and wants GT fuel tank then this can be done but if one wants GT styling with upright handlebar then getting GT and changing the handlebar seems a better option.
