Evening Ian 😊 its much nicer at this speed we have time to see everything, but it still looks freezing, and on que you say god, it's cold 😅😂 flipping Eck these bends look slippy. 11 minutes in, and that view is fabulous 👌 I have really enjoyed these two videos, and you can save the other route until spring and the daffodils 👍

Thanks James, though you know I like to get a wriggle on 😂. The longer version of this is definitely more interesting, but will wait till mid February when we return home, to release it. There was plenty of mud in the middle of the road, just needed a bit of care. Glad you enjoyed both of them. We won’t be back in the spring, but will try and get on that road before we leave here.

I love it! Good for you being brave😉! Be careful on the sides of the roads as black ice is not seen. I had a big spill in Germany on my bicycle years ago. Just some frozen water on the edge of the road that looked like water.
@ianhughesroyalenfield11 күн бұрын
Thanks Edward……yes, it definitely looked a bit iffy in places. A couple of years ago, I did a ride up to the waterfall kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn7Ci2B5q5upo9Esi=uyxFRZShEw-JqK9m , although the road just looked wet, there was black ice under the water. Very dangerous, which really has made me a bit paranoid at this time of year, especially on the higher roads. Better to be safe than sorry 🫣😊

Good video. Beautiful countryside! You're a brave man: on the high section of the route with snow on the ground, I would be afraid of hitting an icy patch on the road.

I was too Frank……it’s ok seeing standing water, but we don’t know what’s underneath. That scenario gave me a bit of a fright a couple of years ago on my Classic 350 when going up to the waterfall. 😳😂 cheers kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn7Ci2B5q5upo9Esi=U8k06lnR-Ca6cutf

Evening Ian, I don't have an issue with either braking performance or the tyres on my Guerilla and I'm riding in all weathers. Great video, will watch the full version when available.🙂👍

You are a brave man out in those conditions …. Thanks for the content …. Visited Lake Vyrnwy a few years ago and tackled the challenging roads around it in spring temperatures although rain … that was tough enough. Enjoy the rest of your time there

@ I love your enthusiasm for the Guerrilla. It’s a great bike. I have the 450 Himalayan which is also a great machine but am sure I would have the Guerrilla instead if I had waited. Looking forward to your next trip out.

The Himi 450 is a cracking bike. Has it been a tad lower, I might well have gone for one myself. No regrets buying the Guerrilla though, thoroughly enjoyable 😎 Cheers

Always chance to revisit without the icy stretches, but in the mean time, gritted roads are fine so good to get out!

Thanks Mike. The full length video is much more interesting than this, but I just can’t get anything uploaded in Wales. Had to come to mum’s again, so uploaded this one here.

Always a good ride out ian. Love the snow around you and not around me. But we will be dipping to the 20 degree mark the next 2 days and i am not happy looking at sand in my back yard and cant lay on it. But if its covered in snow, it could get even more depressed. 😂
@ianhughesroyalenfield11 күн бұрын
Thanks Blake. Snow covered sand, now there’s a thought. 😂

Cracking run that Ian , I don't know what people are on about over the tyres or brakes on the Enfield's, there's nothing wrong with them? And you're in the perfect conditions to expose any bad points on either of them!

Thanks Dino and “Da Crew”. Going to try and get it done during this visit, as I can’t see us returning until January 2026. Video will probably not be released until we return home though. The 1 Mbps upload speed of the internet is useless.

That snow looked scary, especially as it was clearly encroaching on the road and was in every layby. Have you been to Aberystwyth on this trip? I studied there in the late 90s and I don't remember it ever snowing there; the sea breeze kept the snow away but when you drove inland and over the Cambrian Mountains, that's when you'd start to see a lot of snow when it snowed.
@ianhughesroyalenfield11 күн бұрын
Aberystwyth is a fair run from here. Did it last year in the van for my aunts funeral, not a good run. Would be a little quicker on the bike admittedly. It is beautiful inland from there.

Nice ride Ian. I want to thank you for your videos. Your content has been really helpful in choosing my first bike. I know the Royal Enfield navigation supports Google Maps, but I was wondering why you choose to use a separate navigation system instead. Is there a specific reason, like practicality or better functionality?
@ianhughesroyalenfield2 күн бұрын
Good morning, and thanks for this nice comment. The RE uses a mobile internet connection to work. I very often find myself in areas with little or no mobile internet reception (up in the hills and mountains), hence why I went for a GPS satellite based system. I had a Beeline Moto 2 for a while, on my 350, which also uses mobile internet via the phone, and found that even on the fringes of a major town in Cumbria, the app wouldn’t work, even though I had H+ reception. As a side consideration, I also like the screen format of these types of Sat nav. I use a Garmin Camper in the van, so am quite familiar with them. I don’t know if things have changed, but there were reports that Google Pixel phones (mine is a 7a), wouldn’t connect with the Google based system on the RE, though I must admit, I have never tried it. I also like the fact that it fills in the void left by the off set speedo. Hope this answers your question……if you have strong mobile internet everywhere, and don’t use a Google Pixel, all should be well.
@jaswantadhien58872 күн бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Thanks for the detailed response! I live in the Netherlands (Rotterdam), so I don’t expect to have major issues with mobile coverage. That said, I completely agree with your point about having the RE system display the standard info during a ride while using a more familiar navigation system, like in cars. I also see the advantage of having a GPS-based system, especially for reliability in areas with weak or no mobile signal. Definitely something to consider!

You should always ride to the conditions of the road, traffic, weather. Not say “I don’t normally ride this carefully.” Doh!
