Very nice results! The higher torque at lower revs will likely offset any negative affects of the sprocket change, so you'll still maintain that slow pulling power while benefitting from lower revs at speed. Unless I've got it all backwards. 🤔🙂 Interested to see how the sprocket works out for you. Cheers!

Enjoyed that . Thinking of fitting a cam to mine here in the uk .just bought a euro 5. You should do a video running through all mods and parts used .

Greetings, Jim. Apparently, the Euro 5 model does not have the air injection system as was used on previous models. Therefore, the AIS delete kit is not needed for your new bike. Also, according to the Hitchcocks Himalayan accessories site, the booster plug will not work with the Euro 5 motor. However, your bike would certainly benefit by fitting a more free-flowing exhaust and air filter. I highly recommend the larger camshaft and having the bike tuned on a dyno by a reliable mechanic. Fitting a Power Commander or similar would also help obtain the best results from the standard engine. Cheers. Go well 🤙

@@motostralia5563 Hi Guys, just for your info/interest the 2022 EURO5 bikes has some sort of block on the ECU so you can't use things like Power Commanders or booster plugs; so the best thing seems to be new air filter + cover plate, new TEC camshaft and a free-flowing exhaust. Not sure about dyno time as the new bike seems to be untunable ???

@@Dave-in-France Hi David, thanks for the heads up on that. It will be interesting to see how it all goes… With the mods you’ve listed alone, they will give the bike more torque and make it run much better. A proper tune would certainly help with that. Let’s see what happens with the tuning situation. Cheers, Len

Just found your KZbin channel and really like it. Also the fact you can get a Himalayan in the rear of a dual cab ute, I was looking at buying a space/extra cab ute to get my Himalayan in and tow my van. Keep up the great content.

Hi, I was not able to follow the mods you performed on the Himi. DNA filter, muffler, AIS delete, booster plug, camshaft (which camshaft?) and I believe you said Himalayan Tools (Australia) tune. There are three camshafts that I know of for the Himi - TEC (UK), Hitchcock's and Himalayan Tools (India). Which camshaft did you use? On the tune - did they re-write the ECU? How were you able to tune the bike on the dyno? The lower available torque and mid range horsepower changes really are much better for these bikes leaving us able to keep the rpm in a much more useful and economical range. Were you able to see much difference in your k/l? Thank you for putting up the video. Cheers from South Texas!
@motostralia5563
@motostralia5563 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Joe. Thanks for questions. The camshaft is indeed the Himalayan Tools camshaft from India, but I bought it from the Australian distributor. By doing so I was able to speak to the guy directly and get all the information I needed regarding lobe profiles, running in the camshaft (very important) and tappet clearances. Unfortunately, the emails he sent with dyno charts results of the various camshaft profiles that Himalayan tools were developing have been lost somewhere in my computer, or just simply gone. But I do know that the camshaft I bought produced more midrange torque - as seen on his charts - than the TEC shaft from Hitchcocks. If you get in touch with Paul at Himalayan Tools on the Australian site you might be able to find the camshaft information there. All the other parts came from Hitchcocks. The tuning was done by Carl at Café Racer in Wattle Flat. He just worked with the standard ECU to get the best tune he could from the motor. But the real trick was getting the correct amount of back pressure from the muffler - hence the hole drilled in the baffle plug. Too much back pressure with the plug in and not enough with the plug out. He removed the baffle and inserted various size sticks in the end until he got it performing best on the dyno. He then did some calculations and drilled the hole in the plug to replicate his findings. As Carl said, it was really finicky. (I included that in the video) The man’s a genius! However, to get even more from the engine would need the ECU being replaced with a Power Commander, or similar. That way we would be able to obtain smoother power curves. But, I don’t think I really need to do that. I haven’t checked the fuel consumption figures, so can’t really say what’s happening there. I’ve never really bothered to do that, but at the moment here in Oz our fuel is currently AUD $2.30/L ! Do I want to know? At the next fill up I’ll do some calculations and post here for you. Since the video I have installed the larger front sprocket and I can hardly notice the difference as the engine torque just pulls the bike. The larger sprocket should influence fuel consumption quite significantly. I’ll post a video on the larger sprocket install and test when I can. I hope all this helps. BTW, I’ve spent a lot of time in Texas - we had family lecturing at Texas A&M in College Station. We know southern Texas quite well. I hope the above info helps. Take care, Joe. Go well Lenny

Hiya, great vid thanks, ive been waitning to get a camshaft out of the UK but theyve been out of stock for a long time. Where did you get yours from. Cheers from NZ

Hi, Simon. Thanks for the compliment 😁 it was hopeless getting the camshaft from Hitchcocks. No fault on their part, they just sell out so quickly. I got my camshaft from Himalayan Tools Australia. The fellow there was very helpful. Do a search for the name, but I think it is a branch of Himalayan Tools in India. Can be a tad confusing with the search results. No problems with the camshaft at all. When I looked at the dyno results from Himalayan tools they performed even better than the cams from the UK. All the best from Oz to NZ 👍

Did that give it 17hp after a cam etc ? Gee they have less power than some scooters….
@motostralia5563
@motostralia5563 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, occyman. Yes, the figure of 17 hp as displayed on the rear wheel dyno does indeed look quite low. From my understanding, a rear wheel dyno gives a reading around 15% lees than a bhp reading. The calculated 17 hp, as seen on the Himalayan chart in the video, is approximately equal to around 22 - 23 bhp. Still, it’s not a lot, but the extra torque produced with the cam is quite significant. Cheers, Len

Hi, It sounds like you’ve achieved a great result from your mods. I was speaking with my local RE mechanics and management recently and they did say that the newer model 2022 Himalayans do seem to have slightly more power as standard. When I test rode the Scram I did feel this is to be the case. The biggest difference when riding my bike is the torque. It’s greatly improved over standard. Thanks for watching and for posting. I hope you’re enjoying your Himalayan, they’re a great bike. … or maybe it is the WA air 🤔 Cheers, Len

@@motostralia5563 I managed 30.5RWHP on 4th this month with a 81mm piston( overbore) only 38% more than the stock bikes 22 on the same Dyno. How are you doing your Fuel?

@@ozhimalayan477cc2 I haven’t really been checking my fuel consumption, but I can’t say that I’ve noticed any real difference in the consumption. It’s one of those things I don’t think to do - I should do it sometime, though. Does the larger piston on your bike take it to 477 as per your name? I’ve been thinking about going bigger. Cheers

No nothing about the cam from India Hitchcock offer stage #1 & #2 cams Stage one is a regrind, two is from the billet I doubt if TEC BIKE PARTS are offering their cam through Hitchcocks as they are having a job supplying their own Custer's Are you using an iridium plug ? Synthetic oil?

Comments after Essais/Test ride Front brake pretty-much non existent, back brake good; Taller than I remembered; VERY short gearing, leading to 60 kph at 6000 rpm in 6th gear; Vibey, like riding a 125cc; Good handling: cornering on-road; didn’t test off-road; Not for me.
