Hi just bought a new Himalayan, and have been watching your videos. I think you are excellent in explaining various jobs you have done. Hope to have many happy days on it. Had a Ducati before lovely bike but wanted something a bit more hands on and not so demanding. Grate video's thanks very much, and may I say your English is excellent as well. Thank you Chris Palmer

Hey mate. Congrats on the purchase and thanks for your kind words. I am glad you have found these vids useful. It is no doubt a great machine and the simplicity makes DIYs a fun job. Wont lie, there are just a few minor niggles but timely tinkering will get the bike in good nick. Ducati's I have heard have same TLC needs🙂. Have a good one, cheers

little tip, instead of fighting to put the joining link in mid span, put the chain join on the rear sprocket, at about the 2 o'clock position when looking at the sprocket, then the sprocket teeth hold the chain in place so you can replace the link with a lot less effort and swear words. Put bike in gear and then you can hold the wheel one way or the other to gain that little bit of slack on the other side of the run to fit the joiner. I pull down on the wheel so the top run is tight, hold wheel with my foot then I just pull the bottom run "around" the sprocket with my right hand and fit the joiner with my left.

Hi from Nepal 🇳🇵 what is the size of swing arm bearing. Thank you. RE service center in Nepal is saying they don't provide bearing separately. We have to buy hole swing arm and it is costly. If there is bearing size hope I can get it in bearing house.

Where can i buy a swingarm for my himalayan? The puncture guy damaged it by tightening the axle without a bush making it impossible to take out the wheel in case of future punctures or tyre change😢

Hello my friend! Is it normal that the swing arm is off center? Mine is slightly to the left if you see the rear wheel from behind the bike. But the chain and sprockets seem to be aligned. Thank you!

Hey mate, yes tou got it right, it is a bit of center with the spacer keeping it in place. That is how RE has done it, not sure why, but nothing to worry as that is how they have designed it, cheers :)

Hello mate! The pin of my swing arm bearing seems to be given up as the swing arm has side words play! When i went to the service centre they replaced my swing arm! But the problem isn't cured! Is there any other model swing arm berings and pins can be used instead of stock 1! Pls let me knw! Wld like to experiment with that! Thnks in advance!
@leuheanrede
@leuheanrede 4 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, have not faced any issue thus far, but wil look around for option and let you know, as for the side ward play, it shouldnt happen considering they have changed the swing arm, but make sure that all the parts have been correctly installed, the dust seals if worn out should have been changed too, as well as the spacer. These bearings tend to last a long time but timely greasing and upkeep is required to elongate life, Cheers :)

@leuheanrede
@leuheanrede 4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, good thing that you have grease it, but it needs to be correctly tightened too, as loose tstem would still make noise. just remember to loosen the top clamp with 30 mm wrench then top clamp that hold the fork, then tighten the nut under the top clamp until you start to feel slight resistance while rotating handle, then tighten the nut above the clamp then the allen on forks and you are done Cheers :)

@mattyb7736
@mattyb7736 3 жыл бұрын
@@farawayvlogs I use a good quality marine wheel bearing grease designed for boat trailers, it doesn't get affected by heat or water. If you use NGLI3 it can get a bit liquid in hot temperatures. Its not a problem, just means you need to do the job a bit more often. The marine grease lasts about 12000 kms easily (last time i did my one after that distance it was fine and didn't actually need doing)

Yes mate, just normal all purpose grease, stays cost effective too as i clean and regrease every 8-10k kms And thanks for the best serviced bike, i will take that as a compliment, that being said I am sure there are many more, even more immaculately maintained ones, we just dont get to know about them to often :)

@@leuheanrede Thank you very much again for an excellent and helpful video. Your channel is a real asset. I have just done this job on my Himalayan and used your part 1 as a reference along with some other videos. I hope I can offer a couple of helpful insights: 1) I used Waterproof Grease which will stand up to wet conditions better than normal grease. I will use it in the steering head when I do the front end in a few days too. 2) I placed the long spacer into front of the swing arm before mounting it by myself. I think this easier than trying to insert it later and it was quite easy to get it around the shock. 3) when fitting the chain joining link you may find it easier to do so when the chain is on the rear sprocket as this holds the 2 ends nicely in place while you fit the joiner. Thank you so much again, I hope I haven't offended you with my suggestions. God bless

@@Liam1304 Thanks mate :) and yes I agree with all that points you have made except for last one where my own inhibitions kick in 😋, I have kinda psychologically trained my self over the years not to go near the sprocket until tyre is off of the bike. But yes would get better support to remove and connect it back. And I need to try out that waterproof grease too. Adding to shopping list :) Thanks for honest feedback. Cheers :)

Hey Bro, amazing videos ! i have a question, im trying to switch my Himalayan battery to Atz10 antigravity lithium, and im wondering if the Himalayan can charges the lithium which is 14 v, what do you think ? is it a good choice ?
@leuheanrede
@leuheanrede 4 жыл бұрын
Most electricals will handle 14 v, including fuel pump and injector, and some sensors can also withstand that kind of upsurge but in the long run it would be like pushing these things to their limit, besides stock charger provides about 13.80 v + at about 5 k rpm so it can maintain 13.2 v+ of charge on 12 v battery when running, to maintain 14v + we would need a charger that can support 15.5 v+ There are a lot of its and buts here, if I were you, i will stick to 12v Cheers :)
