Or for someone who's had all the bikes but recently realised that with ever decreasing speed limits and increasingly poor driving standards in the UK - perhaps it's time to recapture that very thing which got us into biking on the first place? Kick back, relax and enjoy the freedom of a bike so accessible that it's a real antidote to the jaded mindset some of us have fell into with advancing years? Test riding one at the weekend. Looking forward to it very much. Thanks so much for the real world review 👌👍

@@davemonday5381 I’ve got the stellar in blue, love it!! I liked that the all the bike is painted the same colour and chrome exhaust etc, and that the small back rest has Royal Enfield machine finished on it “classy lol” I didn’t like the blacked out fireball (probably one of the very few) or the supernova colours. I’m 5.7” with a 30” inside leg and can just about flat foot both sides with the optional touring seat, you can get a low seat. I’m 50 and happy with less power, and once fully run in will happily travel on dual carriageways or motorways but it’ll be almost flat out. My last two bikes were a Ducati Scrambler and a Moto Guzzi V7, so I’ve dropped a lot of performance and I’m very happy with the bike. If she’s happy with the power loss then I’d recommend the bike, it’s a huge grin making ride every time 😁

Excellent review. I liked the way you mentioned returning riders and didn't harp on about entry level (as mentioned) but one group everyone forgets which appears to be a big buying group, is downsizing older riders. I am a 65 year old, that has owned approximately 50 bikes. Had everything you can think of. Due to multiple ops and poor health, I can't even move a 650 round the garage now. I now ride a 250, but the Meteor really ticks all the boxes. It does about 15% more than anything I want to do with it. Also the 500km range is incredible.. I would fill my NX250 up 2½ times to achieve this. Thanks again, I am convinced.

Thanks for the THOUGHTFUL review, Mate! I'm not as young as I used to be (turning 60 in Feb.-can't believe it!), so I was looking for something that's light and easy to manage. I've had bigger, faster bikes, including a ZRX 1100 at one point, but I don't want that now; I want something that'll cruise the back roads on a nice day. I'm a bit hefty myself, so it's good to know that the Meteor will handle a bigger guy. Using the stone to lb. converter, I'm about 18-18.5 stone myself. If it'll handle someone who's 21 stone, it'll handle me. As soon as the Meteor came out, I HAD to have one! I just liked the look of the bike. Like you, the yellow is my color. I thought I'd have to wait months to get one though, as no dealers near me had one-until today, that is. I called the local RE dealer, and I told 'em I wanted a Fireball Yellow Meteor. The guy said he'd reach out to RE's rep to find out when they might have one. He called back saying he didn't know when he'd get one; I was bummed. An hour or so later he called me back, saying he'd gotten one in his delivery-yes! I put a deposit down on the yellow Meteor, and I pick it up on Monday. I can't wait!

@@Revviews the local dealer has 3 Meteors in stock, but they're the higher trim versions; they're all Supernova models. I knew from the off that I wanted the Fireball Yellow. One, it's freakin' gorgeous! Two, I LOVE the matte black finish of the exhaust; that's BADASS! Three, I'm not as limber as I used to be, so the backrest just gets in the way of mounting and dismounting. RE is becoming popular because they make something that the other motorcycle makers forgot: a good, basic BIKE! They're making smaller and middleweight bikes that other makers have gotten away from. They're making bikes that guys can-gasp-actually AFFORD! They're making great bikes, period. If I had the money, I'd also buy a Himalayan and an Interceptor 650. When bikes cost as much as cars, there's something wrong. RE is reversing that trend; they're making what people want, which is why they're becoming a player. Anyway, I CAN'T WAIT to get my Meteor 350! She's just what the doctor ordered. Cheers... :)

Was looking to buy one, and was very excited about it. Yesterday went for a test ride on one.....lovely looking bike, smooth motor.......but I can only describe its performance to 'that of a good 125' :( I know instinctively if I'm going to like a bike within a few minutes of riding it. I was out on it for 5 minutes, and KNEW that if I bought one, I'd come to regret it, the instant I was out on the open road. It'd be great around town, but on a longer journey, particularly when faced with hills and winds. I can only describe its performance as 'flatter than flat'! Of course that is just my take....but I would strongly advise having a test ride, before making a decision.....and take it out on an A-road that has a hill or two. I got the test bike up to 60.....and there seemed virtually nothing to speak of past that. Also, I'm eleven stone, so am not really heavy. Horses for courses.

Thank you for the great video, glad you like the heal toe shifter, so glad they put the heal toe shifter on, just needs a kick start. With a 3.297 imperial gal gas tank at 100 miles per gal that will give you well over 300 miles per tank, before having to look for gas. My dream is bikes that get over 500 km per tank of gas. and 500 before you have to start looking for gas is a dream come true, ( 530 km per tank of gas ) I do like the looks of the Classic but it dose not have the heal toe shifter, and the gas tank is smaller. I did see other videos where they say they were getting 37 km per liter of gas so 37 km times 15 liters is 555 km per tank of gas ) If we has a dealer on the island ( Prince Edward Island Canada) I would have one in my stable along with the Royal Enfield 450 Himalayan. Even thinking of going off island, gut it is 50 dollars just to cross the bridge, so that would add up after a few visits.

Yep - it took me about a half hour to get used to it on a test ride. I found that by sticking my left knee out a bit, it made it less uncomfortable to use. If I was wearing flip flops it would have been easy, but in boots that protect your ankles should the worst happen, the positioning is unnatural.

Morning Stig, greetings friend. Oh it definitely can do it I just meant maybe you won't want to load the bike up too much etc. 100% could go on longer journeys. Cheers 🍻
@markymarknj3 жыл бұрын
You could use the Meteor for long travels, but you'd need to stick to secondary roads to do it; I think that the bike would be happier there anyway. If you need to bypass a bad area of town, then the Meteor could hop on the freeway or motorway for a few miles or km, but that's all. For example, I take mostly secondary roads on the way to the family cemetery, but I have to bypass a bad area of Trenton, NJ on the way; the Meteor could easily handle that short, high speed leg before returning to the secondary roads. Or, if traveling from the eastern US to Ohio, I'd take US Route 40 vs. Interstate 70. The Meteor will do long travels-just so long as you're not in a hurry!

@@Revviews Thanks. That was a quick reply! I always remember being so impressed at the age of 17 with an RE Bullet's acceleration, so was curious to see this video. I've been riding since 1965. Before that, when I was round about eight, my uncle Peter took me pillion on his BSA A10 for my first 'ton' [no helmet, and "Dont' tell your mother!"], and since then it has never seemed quite right for a motor bike not to be able to reach a hundred! Silly, I know, especially in this country. Although one does still indulge occasionally, for the good of one's soul, where it's safe to do so. Of course a 350cc is not that kind of bike. And the air resistance from the upright body position is of course a big factor. I just wondered because 70 seemed a bit too low for that power. I'm not [quite] your weight - not yet! - but very nearly your height. That was another one of the things I'd been curious about, because a lot of good bikes are just not comfortable for big long streaks. But you already answered it in this video. Ta. Also seats have been a problem for me in this sense: on my present Kawasaki Vulcan 900 the seat just slides me too far forward after a while, because of the rearward curve. Again, you've said that you, a big bloke, found this machine's seat very comfortable, so thanks for that too. Maybe I'll change... Good video. Now subscribed.
