Thanks. Will give it a proper go with route planning and will see how it copes when the signal drops or at a complex junction. I’ll put that up in a week or two.

Cheers for that. I have the Tripper on my Meteor 350 and whilst it's a nice option to have thrown in, it feels a bit neglected software-wise so far by Enfield. It doesn't seem to have received any updates in quite some time. I also have a Beeline Moto, which has a much better user interface on the device itself, and clearer instructions. The Tripper seems to struggle particularly around multiple roundabouts in short succession and doesn't clearly indicate forks and multiple lanes. This can be an issue sometimes with the Beeline too, but on fewer occasions than the Tripper in my limited experience with it so far. I trust my Beeline to be my only navigation device, but I'm not there yet with the Tripper. I've also noticed there is only a small window after you turn on the bike where you can tap the helmet icon to connect to your previously paired Tripper. After that you have to turn the bike off and on again and hit the helmet to connect immediately which is a bit annoying if you've turned the engine on to get warmed up, then remember you need to set the nav but have missed the window. One other annoyance is that the clock on the Tripper isn't synced with the clock on the dashboard LCD display. Minor thing, but when it's slightly inconsistent it bothers me. :-) This all sounds a bit harsh, but I really do appreciate that RE has added this feature and I think it could be a really solid option if it can get to be as clear and reliable as my Beeline. It just needs a bit of love and attention thrown at it.
@PeakMotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ben. It all sounds like things I have to look forward to. So far I’ve only noticed the lack of sync of the clocks (which is annoying) but having seen the retro fit Tripper, I don’t think it’s integrated at all with the rest of the bike. I’m away this weekend on the GS but will see if I can get out next week and give it some abuse! Thanks

I've found the Beeline unreliable with the Bluetooth constantly dropping out. I've pretty much given up on it.
@the.just.able.biker672 жыл бұрын
I've had my Beeline for a couple of years now and it's always got me to where I'm going. It got me and my wife on our bikes all the way down to Norfolk from Edinburgh for a week's holiday and guided us round all the unlisted Norfolk byways while we were there. It's always in my tank bag so if I end up somewhere I don't know it always gets me back home. When I do get a Royal Enfield soon I'll try the tripper, but if I don't get on with it I'll just use my Beeline and just use the tripper as a fancy looking clock. Lol

Make the most of it! RE have just removed the tripper as standard on the Meteor and Himalayan, at least in India anyway, ( like the classic 350 ) They say it's a temporary thing owing to the world wide shortage of computer chips.They've put the price down a bit in India, will be interesting to see what happens here.. I've been trying to source one for my classic 350, but not found one anywhere. ( they're different from the meteor one, only having one central fixing on the rear rather than 2 ) Enjoy your new Scram, lovely bike!
@PeakMotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
The chip shortage is affecting many things. I ordered a van in May last year, for delivery in February. It needs chips, and arrived at the dealer yesterday. I should have it in a week. Good luck with finding a Tripper. May I ask where ‘here’ is? I’ve seen some for sale for retro fit, but don’t recall the location. India I expect. Cheers,

@@PeakMotorcycles "here" is Sheffield, very close to "the Peak District" lovely part of the world, had the 350 out there this morning. Yes, there are lots of retro fit trippers from India on eBay, but all for the Meteor, Not sure which one they fit in the Himalayan, very strange that for what should be a generic part, the 350 version differs from the Meteor, possibly one could make a different "U" bracket with 2 fixings and use a Meteor/ possibly Himalayan version. Anyway, I don't usually venture further than I know the way! Good luck with the new van

How do you set the clock on the tripper?

I don’t think I’ve ever had to do that, which leads me to think it gets the time from syncing with the app on my phone. (Though now you mention it, I do recall it being wrong all the time initially… is that what you’re seeing? Annoyingly I don’t think it’s linked to the other clock on the dash?)

Sir this Scram is go for long tour 500-600 kms and is it good for highway ride
@PeakMotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
That’s an opinion though, based on how, where and what else you ride. For me, I have a different opinion (which is fine). I would not choose to do a 500-600km ride on a highway (motorway?) on the Scram. No wind protection, and the power and the gearing means 70-80mph is not that comfortable. I also have a R1250GS for such things, and given the choice I would always pick that for journeys as you have described. Everyone is different though, so do what suits you. Cheers.

@PeakMotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. I haven’t tried that yet. I will give it a go.
@edwardkaminsky8142 Жыл бұрын
Call Alert is a interesting subject. When I open the Application for Royal Enfield North America, it asks if Royal Enfield can take over the phone which must mean IF a call comes through while the navigation is initiated...then the call must come through? I found one must disengage the power lead to the battery and reconnect to set up time, temperature, and trip meter. More info in these comments than in the owners manual! I believe Royal Enfield is reliving this navigation concern. Wish navigation instrument would just display time or even date....

@@PeakMotorcyclesDid you test your tripper with a dropped phone signal in the end? I've just been using mine on my Himalayan round Anglesey and had loads of instances with it just stopping navigation which I assume is due to signal black spots. Very annoying. 😐

Lets say you stop for fuel, it wipes the memory when you turn the bike off. Then you get to put all the information into the app again for it to work properly. Worst software ever.
